Book Description

089804037X 978-0898040371 January 1, 1998
Fear is one of the most damaging threats to human happiness, as terrorist attacks have recently demonstrated. And yet, we have the perfect tool for combatting and defeating fear: the 23rd Psalm, one of the greatest verses in scripture. Dr. Leichtman illustrates how we can use the 23rd Psalm to defeat all kinds of inner storms, from fear and worry to insecurity and loss. Fear No Evil is one of the most powerful books ever written about the enlightened use of scripture.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

The image of God as benevolent shepherd to a herd of followers may not appeal to the modern imagination the way it once did to a pastoral society. Church of Religious Science minister Leichtman revisits the 23rd Psalm in a manner that makes it relevant for today's seekers. Reflecting on the symbolism and poetic language of the prayer, he shows its power to focus the mind and heart on indwelling spiritual qualities that correspond to seven energy centers in the "inner anatomy," traditionally known as chakras, although the author does not use the term. He discusses prayer as a useful tool not only for Christians but for all who struggle with fear and anxiety. While generally a helpful and clear approach for beginners, this shows prayer as a means to an end and not as an end in itself, and the author presents a somewhat ambivalent concept of God who is powerful but impersonal, caring yet benevolently detached.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real blessing for all who seek emotional and mental health, March 26, 1998
This review is from: Fear No Evil: Using the 23rd Psalm for Healing and Self-Renewal (Paperback)
"Fear No Evil" is pure gold! The 23rd Psalm has been a source of solace to millions over the years...invaluable in its ability to comfort. But I didn't really understand its true meaning, and had no idea of the power behind the words. "Fear No Evil" unlocks enormous power for mental and spiritual healing. It gives us the key to the restoration of serenity, stability and inner strength in the handling the challenges of life.

In addition to revealing the meaning and significance of the 23rd Psalm, Dr. Leichtman details a very powerful meditative exercise in the book. Its ability to renew and heal the mind and emotions is without equal--a veritable lifeline to sanity.

"Fear No Evil" is the antidote to depression...to fear, worry and confusion...exceedingly empowering!!
