Book Description

August 28, 2012 Guardians of Eternity
Beautiful Cassandra is a Were, a prophet both vulnerable and defiant, blessed with visions that portend the fate of the world. A rare and delicate creature, Cassie must be protected at all costs. Enter Caine, a powerful cur turned pure-blooded Were whose recent tangles with a demon lord have left him in serious need of redemption. Caine is duty-bound to keep Cassie out of danger - and that means resisting his potent urge to seduce her. As Cassie's mysterious visions lead them in and out of danger, Caine believes he has found his true mate, the woman with whom he is bound for all eternity. Cassie is both charmed and frightened by Caine's magnetism, and unsure if he - or her feelings for him - can be trusted. But Cassie can't afford to doubt Caine now. A deadly enemy bent on destruction is closer than they realize - and only they can keep chaos from ruling the world.

More About the Author

I began my career in 2000 under the name Debbie Raleigh, writing traditional regencies and now as Deborah Raleigh writing regency historicals.

Moving to paranormals has been a dream since I watched my first episode of Buffy. I hope everyone enjoys the Guardians of Eternity series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vampires, Werewolves, Witches oh my! August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Vampires, Werewolves, Witches oh my! Guardians of Eternity

Book 9, Fear the Darkness has it all with some possessive, alpha male action, steamy romance, good vs. evil and of course a gargoyle that will make any girl giggle. If you have not read the previous books in this series, I would highly recommend doing so. While this book can stand on its own, there are a number of previous story lines that lead up to this one and explain the various creatures that appear throughout the story.

Caine is a pureblooded werewolf on the run with Cassie, a prophet and a werewolf that cannot shift to her animal form. With Cassie being the only prophet in existence, there are a number of power hungry demons that would kill to get their hands on her, including the Dark Lord. With a minion, Gaius, doing the dirty work, the Dark Lord will stop at nothing to have the seer and take a human form once again in order to travel away from the prison that has held the Dark Lord captive for years. Already in possession of the one of the twin infants required for the transformation, the Dark Lord uses Gaius's love for his dead wife against him to try and find the missing twin and gain access to a physical body once again. When the Dark Lord manages to capture Cassie and Caine, they must overcome the fear and pain to see beneath the surface and find the love that can save them.

Styx and Viper know that something bad is coming. After seeing a symbol written by the prophet, they are searching endlessly to find her and the cur turned werewolf that protects her. Knowing that they must protect the twin infant that is in their care, they are well aware that the Dark Lord will be attempting a kidnapping.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love This Series~ United By Books Review August 28, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
How I love Alexandra Ivy's "Guardians of Eternity" series. This is book 9 in one of my most beloved series to read. If you have not checked out the entire series, you may want to pick it up.

"Fear the Darkness" is Cassie and Caine's book. Cassie is the prophet, one to be protected above all. She has been a captive of the dark lord until, in an act of unselfishness, Caine, the bad guy cur turned swoon-worthy pureblood Were, gave his life to protect her. This act is how he becomes a pureblood.

After not dying, he does everything he can to protect Cassie while trying to fight the attraction between them. The dark lord will do anything to get out of the trap of the undergrounds and has big plans to succeed. With war a possibility and needing to keep the human race from the knowledge of their existence, the Guardians unite to form a front protecting everyone from Hell on Earth.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how naďve Cassie teased, never taking herself too seriously, and showed her strength when needed. Caine, was a guy I loved to dislike. In this book, I did a reverse. I found him strong and fiercely protective, yet tender and gentle with Cassie. Theirs is a low simmering passion from the beginning of the book that turns into a few hot flash scenes.

I will say a majority of the story was focused on the dark lord more so than anything. You also get to see quite a bit of your favorite characters from the past, plus get introduced to a new guy. That being said, do I think these things took away from the book? No, not really. I think it's Ivy's master plan to keep us on the edge of our seats. I know I am already anxious for the next installment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Probably My Last Book By Ivy September 14, 2012
By pammur
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I loved Ivy's first couple books, they had some humor in them and I guess I continued buying her books looking to get some of that humor back. But her books have become increasingly darker. I'm enjoying them less and less. Ivy has been on my auto-buy list for years, but I think I'm giving up on her books. They have the same theme throughout. They seem to be more of a mystery type book that happens to have vampires and were's in the story. I'm really sad her books have gone this way. This may be the last of her books that I purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars QDOS (Quick & Dirty) Run Down on the Apocalypse August 30, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is number 9 in the delicious "Guardians of Eternity" series.

This novel covers the romance between Werewolves Caine and Cassie. It is also the culmination, the final epic battle in the fight against the Dark Lord. Most of the characters from the previous 8 books appear and unite against the evil that threatens to end the world.

On the Romance:
Caine the werewolf has appointed himself protector of the only living prophet Cassie. Everyday brings a new torture as he falls deeper and deeper for Cassie, yet is determined to keep his hands off, in part as some personal penance he thinks he owes for past mis-deeds.

Cassie is ruthlessly hunted, as she is the only living prophet. She is helpless when she has a vision, hence the need for Caine's protection. She has literally been kept in prisoner in a cave pretty much her whole life, and everything she experiences is new and exciting, including her growing attraction for Caine.

On the Battle:
QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) on the war.
This monster bad deity, a.k.a. `The Dark Lord' (DL), was kicked out of Earth a long long time ago by the Phoenix deity. DL's been scheming his return, and whispering false promises to lure minions to help plot his return.

DL manages to create twin babies to house his spirit when he makes his grand return to vanquish Earth. A Jinn Laylah, and her husband Tane, a vampire, rescued the male twin, and are raising him as their own. The female twin, is sucked into the mists, and poom - is possessed by DL, and instantly acclerated to the age of a teen (soap operas call it "Soap Opera Rapidly Acclerated Growth Syndrome!).
