An excellent and thorough resource,
By Chandra Prasad (New Haven, CT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fearless Career Change: The Fast Track to Success in a New Field (Paperback)
Marky Stein is at her best when offering career wisdom that can be molded and adapted to fit the unique needs of individual jobseekers and professionals. With Fearless Career Change, she continues along her winning trajectory by giving readers the necessary tools to tackle the challenges that come with career change, whether those challenges be financial, social, or even psychological. Fearless Career Change doesn't offer any "quick fixes"-and beware of books that do. Rather, it offers practical approaches and sensible advice that will work over time, so long as readers make a concerted effort to follow her suggested course of action.
As a careers and workplace author (Outwitting the Job Market - Lyons Press 2004), I have looked to Marky Stein's books many times for inspiration. Her works possess the right blend of candor, rigorous research, and old-fashioned common sense. Fearless Career Change is as valuable as the others. In fact, considering that many professionals will change careers three times or more over the span of their working lives, Fearless Career Change might just prove to be indispensable.

Wanna be a fireman? An astronaut? A playwright? An evangelist? Then buy this book, it will tell you how! You get the idea. This short volume is best suited for the curious career seeker (ages 8 and up), not the serious professional interested in examining the possibilities. I have no idea who wrote the other reviews, but I wonder if they were paid!

HELP FOR THE ALWAYS CHANGING RENAISSANCE SOUL,
By Margaret Lobenstine "www.ToGetUnstuck.com" (Central Massachusetts USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Fearless Career Change: The Fast Track to Success in a New Field (Paperback)
As a life coach for Renaissance Souls (people with too many interests to choose just one,) I don't know how many times I've heard the question, "But what do I say in the interview, when it's so clear I've never done X before?" I was so tickled when I came to the part of the book where Stein addresses just this concern, providing practical and reassuring answers. If you're a Renaissance Soul (see quiz at www.togetunstuck.com) then you by all means want to have this book on your shelf. After all, sooner or later, you know you'll "outgrow" your present career and want to do something else!
