Briefly, this is the story of a young eastern woman with a scarred face who travels to the New Mexico territory to help what she thinks is a young blind boy adjust to his new life. Her charge is actually a young virile former deputy who is the anger stage of his grief over the loss of his sight.
The book has a unique and fresh story line. So unlike current books where it seems every author is telling a similar story. I read almost 250 pages before Trace bedded Bellami. That, too, is quite a refreshing difference from current novels. The book was well-paced, interweaving a couple of stories at the same time. The secondary characters were well developed, without putting a lot of time and words into their descriptions. The book held my interest from cover to cover. A definite keeper. |
