5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is so overlooked
I don't know if anyone will even read this review, because this is the story of another extremely great CD that is buried by the wave of Clearchannel-MTV garbage. The songs are skillfully written and the interpretations are simply flawless. This is a CD made for those who appreciate real music

3.0 out of 5 stars Great beginning, then a bit repetitive
Keri Noble has incredible raw talent, and it shows on the first few tracks of this album. Her sultry voice and piano accompaniment puts her sound somewhere between Sarah McLaughlan and Sheryl Crow. What makes Keri unique is the way she infuses gospel and blues into otherwise poppy music.

Once you get past the first three tracks, the songs on this record...

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic talent, if you skip this one you will regret it, March 24, 2004

This is one of the best cd's to grace my cd player in some time. I buy a lot of music and Keri Noble is at the top of my charts. Her voice can sometimes be very angelic and calming. Yet other times it is riddled with emotion and so much heart that you know there are real stories behind her lyrics. This is no joke, she is the real thing. I guess I had an unfair advantage over the rest of the world as far as finding out about Keri's music. It turns out she lives in Minneapolis as do I. So hopefully the word spreads quickly and everyone has a chance to hear her music. Recommended songs are, all of them really, but my favorites are "Look at Me", "Talk to Me", and "Answered Prayer". The one song that you cannot let go of is "I Won't". It is a song of power for anyone who has been controlled or taken advantage of in a relationship. It moved me and I'm a guy, so that should tell you something about how powerful Keri's lyrics and voice are. Bottom line, buy the album and see her live if you get the chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and pure female vocalist, February 9, 2005
This review is from: Fearless (Audio CD)
Of all the things I have purchased through Amazon, I've never felt the need to write a review before. This CD needed a review. This CD needs a giant marketing campaign demanding that it be played on the radio - but of course that will never happen, but at least I can encourage anyone even thinking about this album - to purchase it whole heartedly. If I had to compare this to any one album, it would be Patty Griffin's Living with Ghosts. There is a very similar feeling. The voice is where the emotion is - not in some huge background production. The words are very true. The songs quickly become personal. I generally listen to an album a few times, then put it up for awhile to ensure I don't ever get tired of it. I haven't been able to take this out of my car for a month now. When it isn't playing, I'm often haunted by lines and melodies of her songs.

I initially heard of Keri when one of her songs played on Launchcast while I listened at work. I wrote down her name as someone to look into because I liked the song so much. I finally had the time to look her up and reviewed the song snippets on Amazon, and it sounded good - but SO hard to really get a feel for the album that way. Once I received the CD, I looked quickly at the liner notes and I knew that I would love her, at least on some level, because of the personal notes above each song. For each song she gives a 2-4 sentance history of what inspired the song or what it means to her. Gotta love that. I made myself listen to the album twice before I let myself read the notes. It was amazing how it subtly changed some of the songs for me. The songs grown more rich with each listen.

This is a great album. Drive with it. Clean your house with it. Play it while you work. Share it with friends over a bottle of wine - and then tell them to go buy their own copy. :) Go crazy with it.

I had not heard of Keri Noble until I saw Jonny Lang in concert in Seattle last night. She opened the show with some of her brilliant, emotive, AMAZING music. Animated, introspective, humorous, poetic ... this performer is like no other I have ever heard. Amused to see her compared to other female performers, I have to tell you - Keri's sound is unique. Buying her CD was the first thing on my mind today and I think I'm going to buy one for everyone I know. DO NOT MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUPPORT THIS TALENTED AND ENTERTAINING YOUNG WOMAN!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunningly Beautiful Music, March 24, 2004

For me, there is no comparison between Keri and artists mentioned in other reviews. Sure, I can hear those influences, as well as others that haven't yet been named. However, her songwriting skills and vocal versatility surpass all the others. The song samples here don't really do the music justice. Find a copy and listen or go to her website to hear it better. I think that the best song is "Look At Me" - it's painfully beautiful in its construction and execution. Forget about comparing her to anyone else. This is the best music I've heard in a long time.

I was driving to the fruit market on a Saturday afternoon when the mountain stage radio program was playing the music of Keri Noble. I had to stop what I was doing and sit back and listen. Her voice captured my heart and left me mesmerized. The simple honesty in her voice leaves you thirsty for more. If you like music that leaves an indelible mark on your soul then you must buy this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars She's the Real Thing, June 17, 2004
This review is from: Fearless (Audio CD)
Keri Noble seems clearly destined for a bright future. A singer, songwriter and pianist with passion to equal her raw talent, her album is a solid collection of wonderful songs that will propel her to stardom is justice prevails.

From the acapella opening bars of the opening track "Look at Me," a melodic outstretched arm to a significant other asking for trust and to be let inside his world, it is clear she means business and is not afraid to put herself on the line in her music. Indeed, by the second track, the catchy lead-single "Talk to Me," the album's title becomes justified.

"Come and talk to me/What are you waiting for/'Cuz I can see you passing every day and I'm always wanting more/Come and talk to me/What are you gonna do/'Cuz I can't seem to get the nerve to get off my own ass/And come and talk to you."

Overall produced similarly throughout its twelve tracks (in this case that's a good thing), the disc is full of winning gems. From a drunken person's tale in "Bartender" to the cliché yet addictive "Love Is All I Know," it is more than obvious there exists no filler on this album. Each song takes on its own intimate little journey. Another example of that is "Falling," a song about the rush of feelings that ensue after falling in love unexpectedly.

"Usually I'm fearless/But I've become undone/A clown without even a disguise/Now everyone will know that I've.../Fallen...fallen...I've fallen in love/And I can't make sense of it."

A particular standout on the record is "I Won't", whose melody and chorus are easy to listen to and difficult to forget. Clearly targeted against a man since it is written and performed by a female artist, many men at her shows have complained about it. However, if one reads the lyrics it is easy to see they can be relatable to both women and men.

"I won't be your trophy/And I won't look the other way/So I guess you got your wish `cuz babe I promise/Things are gonna change."

Armed with a great deal of skill, Keri Noble's displays it extremely well on "Fearless". If you are looking for a bright young artist with musical integrity and irrepressible talent you need look no further.

I love her sultry voice, poetic lyrics, and the way her songs make me feel empowered. When buying a CD is rare because only one song is good, it's refreshing to find 100% quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars oh boy, March 23, 2004
This review is from: Fearless (Audio CD)
I'm so glad Keri caught a break. I bought her independent release Lullaby almost five years ago, and have been waiting for this ever since. This is the first indie act I've followed to get signed, that alone would make it worth me buying the album. But what makes it worth you buying the album is that it is so f**king good.
I think this is the only album I've ever heard where the voice sounded so pure and emotionally raw. You can't get it this real without attending a live concert, and practically never taking this out of my CD player for the last week since I bought it, I can't wait to see Keri perform live. If the samples from the unbelievably gorgeous tracks available here haven't convinced you to buy the album, I don't know how my review can.
You know how sometimes a moment in a song is so amazing that it makes your heart start racing just listening to it? I can think of least four of those moments off the top of my head from this CD. Give yourself a treat, and keep your heart healthy.
Buy this album.
