This review is from: Fearless Resumes: The Proven Method for Getting a Great Job Fast (Paperback)
I'm in a occupation that has been decimated by the current economic crisis- residential construction.
I'm also in business that for years never even used resumes. My mind doesn't think in resume terms. I worked for many years by "word of mouth". But, times have changed, and resumes are the thing. I have agonized for months on trying to get a resume together. I've read information on [...] and other sites on making resumes but I wasn't looking for how to format it, but information on what am I really supposed to be conveying. This book goes into who is looking at your resume and what they are looking for. The book, in my mind, payed for itself many times over in it's take on ageism, which is right at the beginning. It helped with me completing the resume but also in how I answer job ads. What this book helped me put together was a resume that was "me". She led me away from from constantly second guessing myself and obsessing about "who" I am trying to address the resume to and how do I tweak it for what that "audience" may want(which pretty much sabotaged my making any resume at all.) I just finished my resume today and it's not perfect, but, of course, but, I'm confident with it. For me this is one of those rare, rare books that truly helped me in a difficult time.

This review is from: Fearless Resumes : The Proven Method for Getting a Great Job Fast (Kindle Edition)
Fearless Resumes : The Proven Method for Getting a Great Job Fast is very useful as a resource to write a basic resume. Marky Stein presents clear instructions to focus energy on capturing the attention of employers - "rivet the reader" - and to keep distractions out of the resume. The samples were well-written and representative of several industries and career levels. Even though I eventually worked with a career consultant to fine-tune my own resume, I am glad that I borrowed this book and then purchased it to keep it in my own library for years to come.
