4.0 out of 5 stars Good for easy bread or muffins, February 20, 2007
This review is from: Fearn Brown Rice Baking Mix, 16-Ounce Bags (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
This was my first introduction to gluten free baking, and the box contains about 4 recipes. I made pancakes with this mix, that were slightly disappointing, and i all but gave up on it. Then i made the bread recipe, which was wonderfully easy and requires no fancy equipment or techniques. The bread recipe also doesn't use yeast, just an egg and milk and honey and oil, and it tastes wonderful! Perfect for a hardy PB&J sandwich. I will definitely be buying this again.

This product makes the best GF pancakes. Our son is on a gluten free/casein free diet and he loves the pancakes made from this mix. In fact, the entire family enjoys them. The pancakes come out light, fluffy and tasty. We have tried just about every GF/CF mix on the market and these are by far the best!

I struggled for a long time with gluten and wheat allergies, this Mix is the absolute best there is. I found this product at a health food store in Va, several years back. After moving out of the area, I couldn't find it. Went to Whole Foods in DC and there it was again for about 2 years. They decided not to carry it anymore. Well, I was miffed for a while. Then it came to me, "You shop at Amazon, why not try there?" Guess what, I bought a case and will be ordering a case again, and again, and again. Found some other gluten and wheat free products I use daily. Amazon, you're my place to shop for my gluten and wheat free products.
Thanks, Julia-

I use this mix often to make gluten-free pancakes.
I usually make a triple-batch with plain yogurt replacing some of the liquid.
I have light and fluffy pancakes to last me 2 or 3 days.
Probably the best baking mix I've ever used.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great yeast free gluten free bread, February 21, 2011

I'm new to gluten free living and this is the first bread mix that I purchased. I am very pleased with this product. It is very easy and quick to do, which is nice when having to bake bread just to eat is a little overwhelming. This is yeast free and comes out a bit like a pound cake but it's good and simple for quick bread. It makes great pancakes to!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for pancakes, muffins, and bread..., December 4, 2010

I use this mix to make pancakes often; it works wonderfully for that! I also made some really good pumpkin-pomegranate muffins with this baking mix, and those turned out so excellent that no one ever guessed they were gluten-free. This mix works well for plain bread, too. I have also used this flour to bread fish and to make the crispy topping for cherry crisp/cobbler. When it comes to making cookies and cake, though, you may want to use almond flour, coconut flour, or a white rice baking mix, because the brown rice baking mix has a distinct whole-grain taste to it. As long as you're baking something for which you want that whole-grain taste, this mix will work well for you! I suggest storing it in the refrigerator or freezer to extend the shelf life. I store a box at a time in the fridge, and the rest in the freezer, and it has stayed fresh for a long while that way.

My parents first discovered this baking mix when I was diagnosed with a wheat allergy nearly 25 years ago. It makes THE BEST pancakes you will ever taste! Like another reviewer said, try the pancakes with fresh fruit (my personal favorites are strawberries and blueberries) and it's almost like eating dessert for breakfast. It's hard to find - I'm so glad Amazon is carrying it!

I love this product. It was my first venture into gluten-free baking after my celiac diagnosis. I make blueberry muffins, pancakes, and best of all - "rye" bread for my husband who really misses his trips to the deli. We keep the kitchen gluten free to keep me as safe as possible so he eats a lot of things he might not ordinarily, but really enjoys his "fake rye bread. I just add caraway seeds.
