Book Description

Black Lace Series February 1999
Virtuous Clara Fairfax leaves her ordered life in Georgian England to embark on the Grand Tour of Europe. Instructed by her mysterious fiance, Count Anton di Maliban, Clara travels through the cities of decadent Europe, from icebound Amsterdam to sultry Constantinople, undergoing a series of lessons in pleasure and pain. By making Clara explore each of the five senses in the most perverse but delightful ways he can devise, Anton awakens the sensualist within her. But Clara longs to submit the Count to the most delicious torment. Will he be able to restrain his pupil once she has learnt her final lesson?

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating erotic travelogue - hot and very perverse, April 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: A Feast for the Senses (Black Lace Series) (Paperback)
This book takes us on a sexual and geographical journey. I liked the themes of the senses and the somewhat bizarre encounters Clara gets involved in. I also loved the erotic clothes and settings.

2.0 out of 5 stars The kind of book that makes you think you could do better., March 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: A Feast for the Senses (Black Lace Series) (Paperback)
While the writing in this book is lush and descriptive, it spends very little time getting to the point. A rather loosely-ended story line, I found it unsatisfying.

4.0 out of 5 stars But I loved this book!, July 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: A Feast for the Senses (Black Lace Series) (Paperback)
I have finally been prompted to write a review. As a historian myself and fan of the author's first book 'Unhallowed Rites' I think Clara's journey through Europe and various sexual experiences is erotic and fascinating and a pretty accurate depiction of the Grand Tour. The best sexual characters (eg the boy castrato and female perfumer) are not the usual Black Lace cliches. Is all this too European - or dare I say it - too subtle for most people?
