Very good book about food and art. I am a photographer who often shoots food still-ifes for my fine art portfolio. Although I constantly study the great Flemish master painters and the work of the Impressionists this book is a constant inspiration. It always gives me some new ideas and hints. It is also a great explanation of how and why food was used a subject by painters, and goes on to explain how you can really judge what was going in society at the time a food still-life might have been painted. The foods chosen by the painters were indicative of tastes and trends, and societal leanings during good times and bad. I use this book as reference all the time and highly recommend it.
