5.0 out of 5 stars Skillfully shows importance of Jewish holidays to Christians
This excellent book clearly shows how the seven feasts that God commanded the Jews to observe are important to Christians today. The authors skillfully show how these feasts clearly point toward the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is a definite "must read" for anyone with an interest in prophecy, end times, or the return of Jesus Christ!

3.0 out of 5 stars Much Better than Booker!!
Of the two best selling, this is the better work but it's not as specific in literal fulfillment as I hoped. The Jewish menus were nice but just added fluff for the serious scholar.
The best place I found on the web if you want the meaty scholastic information on the Feasts of the Lord is:

5.0 out of 5 stars Prophetic fulfillment of the feasts just coincidence?, April 16, 2000
This review is from: The Feasts Of The Lord God's Prophetic Calendar From Calvary To The Kingdom (Hardcover)
Was it just a coincidence that the four spring feasts of the Lord were fulfilled prophetically during the first coming of Christ? Howard and Rosenthal show us how the feasts of the Lord were God's appointed times to meet with man for holy purposes, and how having an understanding of the prophetic fulfillment of each feast will clue us in to where we stand in God's prophetic calendar. Written from a Jewish-Christian perspective, this beautifully illustrated book also covers other Jewish holy days and material that are not normally included in similar studies, and because of the authors' backgrounds, you can be sure that you are getting authentic information. Do you think it will be a coincidence if the three remaining fall feasts are fulfilled during Christ's second coming? To find out, read this book. To understand why this is not "date-setting", read "The Pre-Wrath Rapture Of The Church" by Marvin Rosenthal.

Howard and Rosenthal have made quite a mark for themselves in Jewish-Christian scholarship. Much of their effort is to link the Hebrew Bible festivals to a New Testament observance and belief system. By all regards, they accomplish their goal quite well. However, the book is not written as in-depth as I would have liked to have seen. There is a wealth of information out there as to what the church father thought about the seven festivals, and it would have been nice if there had been an acknowledgement of that fact. Additionally, the binding can be poor at times, particularly if one makes extensive use of it. On the whole, not bad and still well thought out.

This well-written, very readable book makes the Bible come alive today. It unlocks the "why" behind God's appointed times, set forth in the Scriptures. The so-called "Jewish holidays" are actually a road map, pointing to Jesus as the Messiah of Israel... and of the world. Also the illustrations are quite beautiful. This book would make a nice gift for any believer.

I was so impressed with the the meaning of the festivals, the details and how Christ fulfilled every symbol in the spring feasts and how he will fulfill the fall feasts his second coming! A very powerfully written and yet easy to read book. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Feasts of the Lord, January 12, 2006
This review is from: The Feasts Of The Lord God's Prophetic Calendar From Calvary To The Kingdom (Hardcover)
This book has been life changing for me. In the most beautifully crafted artwork it explains the Feasts of Isreal as they were celebrated in Bible times. It then explains how present day Jews interpret these marvelous days and lastly it shows so lovingly how our Lord has fulfilled each of the Spring Feasts already and how the Fall Feasts have yet to be fulfilled at His next coming. It is a book to keep forever and to share with anyone who wants to know Jesus better. Mary Baffaro, Edmonds WA

5.0 out of 5 stars Helps Better Understand the Bible, February 22, 2010

This review is from: The Feasts Of The Lord God's Prophetic Calendar From Calvary To The Kingdom (Hardcover)
"The Feasts of the Lord" is an excellent and enlightening resource for Christians and Messianic Jews. It's written by a man who grew up in a conservative Jewish home and a minister who is deeply involved with the Jewish people. Both authors are Christians and show in this book how the Messiah has and will fulfill the seven Feasts of the Lord.

They explained the history of and Biblical commands given for each feast, what additional traditions were added to the feast and why, how the feast is celebrated in modern times, and how the Messiah has fulfilled or will fulfill the feast. (The information on the future fulfillment does, of course, require some speculation that might not turn out to be 100% correct, but it was interesting.)

The authors gave an overview of the Spring and Fall Feasts, then explained how the Jewish religious calendar works (including how they count days and months). Then they covered the Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of First Fruits, the Feast of Weeks, the Feast of Temples, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles. In the next section, they described other Jewish holidays: Tisha B'Av, Hanukkah (the Feast of Dedication), Purim, and the Jubilee Year.

The book had many lovely, full-color inserts that illustrated the feast being observed, the layout of the temple so the descriptions of how the feasts were carried out in temple times could be easily followed, calendar information about when the feasts are observed, and so on.

The book was very, very interesting, enlightening, and easy to understand. I'd highly recommend it to all Christians, especially those interested in the Jewish background of the Bible as a means to better understand some events in the Bible.

This book is one of my absolute favorites! Not only is the information within EXTREMELY well written, there are many photographs and the artwork is among the best I've ever seen.

There are overviews of the Spring Feasts and the Fall Feasts and an explanation of Jewish Time, broken down into the Jewish Day,Week and Month. There are chapters on The Feasts Of Leviticus 23 (the 7 feasts) as well as Additional Observances.

Each of the Feasts are covered in DETAIL, with wonderful illustrations, charts and artwork.

Even if you never read a word of this book (which would be a shame, because it is so very informative) you will be blown away by the artwork and the photography. There is a two page spread on The Passover Table which shows each item with an explanation, which is worth the price of the book alone!

Each Feast is covered with THE BIBLICAL OBSERVANCE and also the MODERN OBSERVANCE, and each ceremony is explained in interesting, never boring detail. The illustrations and photographs draw you in and you really start to "get it."

I am so thankful I purchased this book. It is one of my favorites and one which I refer to often. It is well worth the price and you won't regret your purchase.

Wow, what a great book. Was recommended during a Beth Moore Bible study and I find it so helpful regarding Jewish history. Very plain to understand. Very well written. Kudos to Kevin Howard and Marvin Rosenthal. Wished I would have purchased it earlier.

This review is from: The Feasts Of The Lord God's Prophetic Calendar From Calvary To The Kingdom (Hardcover)
I've read many books on this topic as we are new to celebrating the Biblical feasts. This book is excellent. A clear explanation of each feast, why it is celebrated, etc. and then lots of easy to understand & simple charts to show what time of year each happens. Really, this has been an INVALUABLE resource for as as newbies! Written from a Messianic standpoint, shows clearly how each Biblical feast & its celebration points to the Messiah.
