Rishloo are a fantastic and utterly underrated modern progressive band from Seattle. They mix pounding rhythmic buildups and vocally led alternative rock styles with progressive attitudes, effects laden guitar sections and virtuosic musical displays, all in a concise and grand manner coupled with particularly intelligent and evocative lyrics.

The band are perhaps most famous for Tool and A Perfect Circle comparisons, but there is a lot more to the band than simply homage to the unique and oft imitated talents of Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Justin Chancellor and Danny Carey (although if you listen carefully, it is easy to pick up on just that; for each member and their specific tones and styles, especially because Rishloo feature rhythmic and emotive vocals that use of lot of long sustained shouts over musical transitions.)

While Rishloo write artistic and creative music suited to fans of progressive rock, the music falls more on the commercial and listenable alternative rock end of the prog spectrum than on the dense, challenging and difficult end. There aren't twenty-minute songs played at 30bpm full of drills, grotesque film samples and dissonant organs; just intelligent and interesting music written and performed by talent individuals.

I would urge anyone who is a fan of bands talented and focused like Dredg, Amplifier, The Mars Volta, Coheed And Cambria or The Dear Hunter to try out Rishloo and see if they suit you, chances are you will not be disappointed.

Feather Gun is the band's third full length studio album and sees an evolution and honing of the band's sound, moving away (apart from on the brilliant opener `Scissorlips') from easy Tool comparisons and further into a sound that is wholly Rishloo.

This is an absolutely stellar CD. I happened upon this band clicking links in youtube, and so glad I did!

The first 37 mins of this album are as good as I've heard. These guys produce fantastic progressive rock without losing the essence of creating a really great song - everything is done for a reason. The title track was for me probably the hook on the first listen, but I have enjoyed countless hours discovering the many-layered depths of this treasure :). In previous albums, there was an obvious comparison to tool, but in this they have really stepped out and created a sound - a terrifically impressive feat! I would say that in this album they've created their sound, but with such a wonderfully creative and evolving band I wouldn't put it past them to recreate themselves yet again...can't wait to hear what is next.

I have been a Rishloo fan for years and this album is their best yet. If you are a tool/apc, porcupine tree, etc., prog metal fan then this album is for you.

I just recently discovered Rishloo by chance through the game Rock Band. This album is amazing and I would have never discovered them otherwise. This is an overlooked gem that deserves more recognition(as of writing this, they don't even have a Wikipedia page yet). It seems to me that one of the pitfalls in the prog genre is to let the musicians skill on their instruments take priority over good songwriting(though I can definitely appreciate where both are employed). Rishloo never fall into this trap. The songs are complex enough to keep the listener engaged, but they are memorable for their creativity and atmosphere. The variety here is excellent. Every song has it's own distinct identity, but still feels part of the whole. While their are certain influences that are easy to hear, the band really has their own style. I'm amazed this band only has the relatively small following they do. Anyone who has an appreciation of any kind of Rock/Metal/Prog music will find something here to enjoy on this album.

I am a relatively new fan of Rishloo, but I certainly hope they find success because they are an amazing band. Few bands today really grab my attention, but from the first single I heard from these guys (Scissorlips), I was hooked. I have heard songs from all three albums and I have yet to hear a track I dislike. I highly recommend giving these guys a listen.
