3.0 out of 5 stars a jumping board for beginners
Does nobody appreciate the irony of cutting down trees to publish 'Earth-Friendly Guides'? Well anyway, this is a good looking book full of information that might completely satisfy the curiosity of people who are new to design, eco-friendly decorating and living or all of the above. If you're already versed in these topics you will probably find the book has little to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Inspirational!, June 25, 2009
This review is from: Feathering the Nest: Tracy Hutson's Earth-Friendly Guide to Decorating Your Baby's Room (Hardcover)
I just love this book! My sister-in-law gave this to me as a gift at my baby shower. I had an idea of the kind of nursery I wanted, but wasn't sure where to start. I literally saw the exact nursery I had been envisioning in her book. Her book is user-friendly, and gives so many tips and ideas to create the perfect space for your baby. Now I have a beautiful and peaceful space for my daughter where my daughter will grow and play, all thanks to my sister-in-law! I would have been lost without this book! This book is a GREAT gift for any expecting parent!

This review is from: Feathering the Nest: Tracy Hutson's Earth-Friendly Guide to Decorating Your Baby's Room (Hardcover)
This book was given to me as a gift upon the birth of my son. Not only is it inspirational, but practical too! The book explains how to acheive the dream nursery, and even gives you suggestions on how to incorporate your own personal touches. I didn't think I had a creative bone in my body, but I was wrong. Feathering the Nest really inspired me to get creative and have fun decorating my son's room, and showed me that it doesn't have to cost a fortune!!! I love love LOVE this book! Not only did it help me design a dream space for my newborn son, now I can hardly wait to redecorate my 2 year old daughter's room!! I will be giving this book as a gift for every baby shower!

This book was so beautifully written and flows with such ease from page to page. When I recieved my copies I sat down and read it from cover to cover. Her special little hints/advise for first time Mommies are perfect additions. I purchased several copies and will give this book to every new Mommy I know now and in the future. It made me feel good to know that I have been living green for years. Good job Tracy. How about a book for decorating baby/children's rooms at Grandma's house.

This book is perfect for helping design your little one's room. It gives great overall ideas while accenting small details in large close up photos (which I loved). I was looking for a book which would help with details for my nursery and this was perfect. It has something for everyone! And i also have purchased it for many of my expecting friends and all have loved it!

This is an absolutely beautifully written and illustrated book to help new parents of any age and grand parents as well. The decorating hints and suggestions are presented in a manner that anyone can adapt to their situation. All the myriad of helpful hints and information for new parents make it a wonderful reference guide that can be referred to over and over again as questions arise. 3.0 out of 5 stars a jumping board for beginners, September 7, 2009
This review is from: Feathering the Nest: Tracy Hutson's Earth-Friendly Guide to Decorating Your Baby's Room (Hardcover)
Does nobody appreciate the irony of cutting down trees to publish 'Earth-Friendly Guides'? Well anyway, this is a good looking book full of information that might completely satisfy the curiosity of people who are new to design, eco-friendly decorating and living or all of the above. If you're already versed in these topics you will probably find the book has little to offer that you don't already know. Hutson's book features four rooms, each in a different theme - vintage, contemporary, traditional and international - to parents to recreate or use as inspiration. The last 'special bonus' chapter highlights the room she decorated for her two sons. While all of the rooms are charming and the photography is beautiful, I need more than five lovely rooms to justify buying a book on design. Throughout are tips on child-proofing, keeping your VOC count low, brain stimulating decorating, a smattering of DIY projects and - most mystifying - parenting. I'm afraid Tracy might have let Guru go to her head, if indeed being on Extreme Makeover and having two young children qualifies you as a guru. The eco-friendliest course of action may be to skip this book and instead get the information from the same places Tracy and her 'collaborator' LG Mansfield probably got it: [...] and so on. For parenting tips I highly recommend Dr. Sears' The Baby Book.
