5.0 out of 5 stars This video "Wowed" my cat!
I put my cat just in the same room as the TV, and turned the volume up a bit, and was she ever intrigued! She first looked at the TV from across the room, then literally ran over to the TV, then jumped up on top, looking for where the birds were going. The sounds of the blue jays screeching and squawking really got her going. I like to keep my cat indoors most of the...

Would give the item no stars if I could.. Received the item as a present. We have 3 cats and they totally ignore the video. It looks like the video was shot with a low-grade home video camera. In attempt to capture bird sounds the volume was cranked up in a number of shots. This produces a very annoying buzz in many places. Also, very repetitive - the same bird , and for...

This review is from: Feathers for Felines, Episode 1: Videos/cat toys for cats [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I like to keep my cat indoors most of the time, but she sure knows what birds are all about. This video makes her life a lot more intersting, and a lot safer than letting her outside. Thanks for a great product!!

4.0 out of 5 stars LISTEN to a Rehabber with 41 cats! It's great!, March 4, 2004

While ALL cats are not motivated by Bill Hayward's films, our group gives it a good 75% interest rating. We have the unusual advantage of being able to observe a large number of felines in an open, societal setting and, admittedly, started out with a couple sitcom watchers and tennis fans. Remember- these flicks are not editted with human cinematographic expectations in mind; they might seem to jump around to us- but the cats love them. Introduce the videos to your animals by simply running the tape- with no expectations- soon you'll see the cat(s) peeking out around a corner, ears perked with interest. Different cats also seem to prefer different scenes/birds/animals. I started with this edition and found Kitty Safari (which I purchased at the same time) to be not only shorter, but somehow lacking. Now that we have all Bill's "editions", it is "expected" that I'll pop in kitty tapes in both TV's when I'm leaving for work. I'm even going to have to hook up another TV for the isolation ward! Great a-mews-ment for your pets- and super gifts for the cataholic (we ALL have one!) in your life. >^..^< PAWS UP!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cat-Pleasing Video - Excellent!!!, December 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Feathers for Felines, Episode 1: Videos/cat toys for cats [VHS] (VHS Tape)
As a multiple cat-owner (3 of 'em!) I am very, very happy with these videos. I first bought Episode 1, and Kelly (the youngest) fixated on the TV immediately, then started looking behind the TV for the birds! Then Wille joined in, but he was determined to "catch" the butterflies (from the Special Edition tape) by batting at the screen - just like the cats in the web site pictures! I have also bought some as Christmas gifts for my friends - all in all, a great product, and nicely video-taped with lots of different birds. Thank you so much from Kelly, Willie and Smoke!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST TOY EVER BOUGHT!, December 19, 2002

I'd bought tons and tons of toys for my two cats. Everything from springs, blinking balls, mice, animated mice, spinners, string, and other stuff. We even bought a kids pop-up tunnel (which they enjoy I might add). But nothing compares to this video and the other feathers for felines videos. They absoultely love them, we put them on everyday and they always watch them. A must have for all house cats!

My cat Mitsou absolutely loves this video! She stops whatever she is doing when I put it on, and all her attention is on the TV - and the space around the TV when the birds fly off-screen! She goes into her "cat attack" position, and her squeaky cat-attack voice takes over. Unlike the negative reviewer, I don't turn up the volume - it's not required, and the sound is just fine. Mitsou's favourites are the squawking Blue Jays..she literally twitches all over when they are on. I counted at least 14 different types of birds, and saw no duplicate video shots at all. There are hundreds of clips edited into this one-hour video. Obviously a lot of time and effort went into producing this product. Congratulations! (Was that your competitor who submitted that other ill-mannered review?)

I am not a cat, but I am a birdwatcher. I have enjoyed Mr. Hayward's production time and time again. I highly recommend it not just to cat owners but also to those of us humans who enjoy looking at birds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Entertainment/Stimulation for My Cats, March 26, 2010

This review is from: Feathers for Felines, Episode 1: Videos/cat toys for cats [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My cats LOVE this video, they can not get enough of it. I would recommend to any cat lover who wants to keep their cat stimulated and entertained. It's best to leave the room so the cats are not distracted but I admit to sneaking back in just to watch them. They really had me cracking up, they were taking turns jumping at the TV trying to capture a bird...it was so funny to watch. Its been over a month and it seems like they love the video more each time they watch it.

I would highly recommend.

Does what it is supposed to do. Entertain, tease, and fascinate cats for an hour! I wish they would identify the birds with "subtitles" so the humans could learn something, too.

In attempt to capture bird sounds the volume was cranked up in a number of shots. This produces a very annoying buzz in many places. Also, very repetitive - the same bird , and for that matter the same shot, keeps coming back... If you have a video camera you can do better in your back yard
