Editorial Reviews

A DOCUMENTARY SPECIAL MYSTERIOUS - ENCHANTING - AWE INSPIRING - ENIGMATIC Presenting the story of the greatest revelatory phenomenon of our time. A 85 minute documentary which shows the circles themselves for all to see and presents the top crop circle researchers. Investigating the over-all assumption of hoaxing, balls of light, sacred site connection, media and people s reaction to the phenomena, and outlining the basic understandings arrived at so far. Images of the major crop circles, interviews with top researchers and a narrative line dealing with the mystical aspects of the phenomenon. Many are now coming to believe these mysterious symbols, appearing all over the planet (more than 11,000 since 1980), are a communiqué to humankind allowing a greater human consciousness to emerge. They are here to offer humanity at this time, an opportunity for an expanded consciousness and an understanding of how the world works in the larger context of the inter-galactic community.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful documentary, September 8, 2007

This review is from: Star Dreams; A Feature Documentary Exploring the Mystery of the Crop Circles (DVD)
This is a wonderful documentary on the crop circle phenomenon. It mixes images of the crop circle glyphs with the scientific and the spiritual views of the phenomenon. It presents a powerful case that these are made by beings of greater spiritual, intellectual & technological development than humans and they point to an unfolding on planet Earth of a special time in the history of mankind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing NEW information!, January 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Star Dreams; A Feature Documentary Exploring the Mystery of the Crop Circles (DVD)
This DVD is very well done and presents NEW information that changed my beliefs about crop circles, and opened my eyes to orbs and other paranormal activity. This DVD has been presented at IONS (Institute of Noetic Sciences) community groups for viewing and discussion and has been very well-received in that venue.

3.0 out of 5 stars A lot of interesting material mixed with some "New Age Tosh", August 23, 2009

This review is from: Star Dreams; A Feature Documentary Exploring the Mystery of the Crop Circles (DVD)
Star Dreams - A feature documentary exploring the mystery of crop circles (2005)
Director/Writer/Producer: Robert L. Nichol
Narrated by: Cathrine Fuller
Running Time : Approximately 1 hr 26 minutes

This program essentially consists of video footage of various people expressing their views and/or making comments about what are commonly called crop circles, interspersed with photographic and video footage of certain formations taken on the ground and from the air. The picture and sound quality is generally very good.

This documentary would probably be of interest to those with little knowledge of crop circles and would like to understand more about where they appear, who makes them and why, and what is their meaning. Those persons who have been following the growth of the phenomenon in recent years will probably enjoy the program as well, as I did, for the variety of interesting comments and the video footage of some of the formations.

The opening statement of the documentary is made by the narrator:

"Crop Circles: What are these strange and mysterious symbols appearing all over the planet? Why are they happening? Who or what is doing it? And how are we to relate to this growing world-wide phenomena?"

The documentary then attempts to answer a number of questions which are asked and which divide the program into corresponding segments:

1. What do you think is going on?
2. Why is there so much resistance to the concept that we are not alone in the Universe?
3. What is the meaning of the crop circles?
4. Why are so many circles appearing in England?
5. What is the effect on humans?
6. Are we able to contact the circle-makers?
7. What are the balls of light?
8. How might crop circles be interpreted?
9. What do you think causes crop circles to appear?
10. Whay are so many crop circles appearing now?
11. Why is it, so many refuse to believe in the possibility of life on Mars, given the evidence?
12. What are orbs?

Throughout the documentary there are many views and comments presented by the following people:

Busty Taylor - Crop circle researcher. Pilot. Photographer.
Lucy Pringle - Photographer. Author.
Steve Alexander - Photographer. Author.
David Kingston - British Ministry of Defense (Retired). UFO Investigator.
Michael Glickman - Author.
Andy Thomas - Author.
Dr. Nan Lu - Author.
Freddy Silva - Author.
Polly Carson - Farmer.
Chad Deetkan - Researcher.
Karen Douglas - Author.
Francine Blake - Wiltshire crop circle study group.
Isabelle Kingston - Researcher. Psychic.
Janet Ossebaard - Author. Filmmaker.
Linda Moulton Howe - Reporter. Editor of Earthfiles.com.
Paul Anderson - Canadian crop circle network.
John Haddington - Centre for crop circle studies.
George Wingfield - Centre for crop circle studies.
Charles Mallet - Owner, Silent Circle Cafe.
Neil Olsen - Author.
Richard Hoagland - Author.
Ken and Clynt King - Landowners.
Rod Bearcloud - American artist. Crop circle researcher.
Judith Moore - Author.
Alton Kamadon - Publisher.

Of particular interest to me was the video footage of small UFO's (described as "balls of light") of which two are shown:

1. Footage taken at Bishop's Cannings in England by Peter Sorenson (The date the footage was taken is not provided)
2. Footage taken at Barbury Castle by Donald Fetcher (The date the footage was taken is not provided)

Also of interest to myself was a short segment regarding the message beamed into space from the Arecibo Radio telescope in Puerto Rico in 1974. The message, sent in binary code contained information about human beings on Earth such as our counting system, the relationship of our Earth to the sun, a pictogram of a human and our DNA, and other information. In August 2001 at Chilbolton in England a reply in the from of a pictogram in a wheat field was received which pointed directly at the Chilbolton Radio telescope! The reply was almost the same as the message sent from Earth but contained a number of differences including a pictogram of a short, large-headed being in place of the pictogram of a human in the original message. I would have liked to have seen more about this event in the documentary.

Hardly touched on was another spectacular event which occured in England in August 2002. A huge formation was discovered of what is clearly an alien being presenting an encoded disc upon which is a message. The documentary provides a verbal transcript of what is generally considered the best interpretation of the message and also displays the pictogram itself for a short time. I would have liked for more information to have been provided about this extraordinary event.

There were also a few other items which I found to be of interest:

1. The recent phenomena of ice circles where perfect circles of ice form on lakes or rivers. A number of photographs of different ice circles are presented.

2. A number of unusual sound recordings are presented which were made within crop circle formations. This is the first documentary I have seen where such recordings are presented.

3. A discussion about a possible link between crop circles and the Bible.

4. A discussion about crop circle hoaxing. In 1992, Doug Bower and Dave Chorley, two somewhat elderly retirees, came forward and claimed that they had created hundreds of crop circles over the preceding 15 years using a plank of wood, rope and a baseball cap fitted with a loop of wire to help them walk in a straight line. At that time, Doug was 67 and Dave was 62. Dave Chorley died in 1996.

Unfortunately, towards the end of the documentary especially, a lot of the statements made are what I consider to be "New Age Tosh". Here are a few examples:

"When I was a child I used to live in a village nearby and they always called me 'the fairy child' because I always could see little balls of light round trees and plants and really wondered why no one else could see those little balls of light. And then as you grow up you tend to lose that link with the nature spirits - you know - and some people think you're crazy. The first time I saw those lights again was with the first crop circle I saw so I knew that there was a co-operation with the elementals and the nature divas." Isabelle Kingston

"I feel that the crop circle makers are component parts of all sorts of things... it's the power of the consciousness of the Earth, I feel it's the consciousness of the Universe, I feel it's the aquiescence of the plant kingdoms, and I feel it's our own psyche... our own spirituality... our own connectedness or divinity within all things that are also creating these symbols, so that when you have all those four things coming together they hit a critical mass and an expression of that moment is placed in the field." Isabelle Kingston

"Some researchers are now coming to believe the crop circles are templates for a new human reality about to emerge... to help attune humanity to the new vibratory frequencies being brought to this planet. What has not been ruled out, however, is that Gaia, or Mother Earth herself, is sending thought forms to humanity" The Narrator

"I believe the first thing that each of us needs to do is get out of our heads and bring our consciousness to our heart chakra and then flow with the divine dance that is the phenomena of the crop circle... allow ourselves to experience the gift." Judith Moore

"Each crop circle is a jewel of creation. Each crop circle carries fractalan formulas for healing the planetary crisis, for awakening the higher states of consciousness, for activating our DNA from a two-strand DNA to the full thirteen-strand DNA... as each one of us scan these through our neural synapsis it awakens an encodement in our DNA that interacts with the formulas and affects the collective consciousness." Judith Moore

At this point I would have preferred the documentary to stick to facts, evidence and expert opinion rather than this kind of rubbish.

Anyway, I hope this review has been helpful for any reader considering investing in this DVD. Are crop formations simply a cruel hoax by human circle makers or something else entirely? Please view this documentary, and decide for yourself!
