About the Author

An avid reader and researcher, Robert Gabrick, became interested in trucks and all things mechanical in early childhood. Since then Mr. Gabrick went on to become a history teacher, researcher, and writer. He has been awarded 26 separate fellowships and grants for his historical research and papers. About his current truck research, Mr. Gabrick said, “The subject is really about history...it is important to preserve the history of these topics.” His latest books on Autocar and Freightliner have earned him the well deserved nickname, "The Caption King" for his well-researched, informative captions.

If you have an interest in the early days of trucking, you will enjoy this book. Each page contains a large, well focused picture of the Federal Motor Trucks from their inception in 1910 to the end of their production in 1959. Most of the pictures are from the Detroit Public Library, National Automotive History Collection. They are Federal company pictures of new trucks to be used for their advertising purposes, so you see them as they looked as they left the plant. There are a few photos of details, but mostly just a truck in a size so you can enjoy the details of the particular year model. Accompanying the pictures is an account of what the company said about the particular model. 125 pages of truck history.
