Though Oregon hasn't felt the sting of the foreclosure crisis as much as other states, Eugene and Springfield will receive federal funds to help shore up their neighborhoods hardest hit by foreclosures.
Prompted by "an alarming" increase in foreclosed and abandoned properties, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is distributing $3.92 billion in neighborhood stabilization grants to state and local governments nationwide, Springfield Housing Programs Specialist Kevin Ko said.
