Book Description

Star Trek July 1, 1997
The purpose of this Travel Guide is to make your voyage through Federation space and beyond as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, regardless of your physical and cultural orientations.

We, the editors, attempt to accomplish this by providing reliable information regarding attractions, lodgings, and restaurants on various planets and facilities . . . by pointing you in the direction of what we consider the galaxy's "BEST BETS" . . . and by advising you of the dangers and pitfalls a sentient being may encounter along the way

To use this book effectively, you should be conversant with the Travel Guide's rating system, which employs a variety of symbols. Please familiarize yourself with the chart below and its explanations of those symbols before reading further.

Be aware that no attraction, lodging, or restaurant pays for its rating. Each one is evaluated on the basis of merit alone. Evaluations are updated every Federation-standard year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Look out universe, here comes Lwaxana!, November 2, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Federation Travel Guide (Paperback)
The Daughter of the Fifth House is as hilarious as ever in this little book. She tells you everything from the most incredible places in the universe (i.e.- Risa, the Amusement Park Planet) to places to avoid at all costs (Romulan Star Empire, Borg, Dominion) to where to get the best plate of haggis. Even her rating system had me laughing so hard I almost split my sides! A must-read for anyone planning to travel the galaxy in a couple centuries or the Trekker looking for a laugh.

Even though every Star Trek fan knows almost all the trivia information in this book it is a nice filler. If you're going to roleplay in the Star Trek universe it provides a good background for location hopping on alien worlds.

Being a hard core trek fan and collector, this book is on my shelf. That said, it has some interesting verbage and pictures to it. It is what it is, a small little cash maker for the publisher. I could see where it would be helpful if someone were writing a trek book and needed a small amount of quick reference material.
