1.0 out of 5 stars Abysmal Hack Job, September 29, 2009
This review is from: Fedora 11: Administration, Networking, Security (Paperback)
This book is worse than useless; it's a complete waste time and money. It obviously wasn't actually "written," but is instead a massive cut & paste exercise from other sources. Only about 1/3 of the book is unique material, the other two thirds is the same information over and over again. In fact, much of the information is repeated almost verbatim. In most cases it will go on and on about what you can do, without ever actually telling you HOW to do it. In many other cases, it's just plain wrong. It is rife with typos and other mechanical errors; obviously it was never proofread by anyone before going to press. The very cover itself (back) has the title on the top: "fedora 11 Desktop Handbook," and directly underneath that begins the description: "This book examines Fedora 10 for the user." Are you kidding me? They didn't even proof the cover? If you really want to learn about Fedora 11, or even just have a reference book, do yourself a big favor and get any book but this one!
