A very Good Reference book,
By
This review is from: Fedora 10 Linux Administration, Networking, and Security (Paperback)
A week ago I wrote a very bad review on this book after reading 3 pages. There were 10 mistakes in the first three pages. I could not believe how bad this was and put the book down looking for another book. In all fairness to Richard Petersen, I picked it up again a week later and found that the book is pretty good. I have now read a few hundred pages with very few mistakes. It is very well laid out and Richard has methodically gone through each topic in such a way that it is easily understood.
I also admire him for writing a book which does not have a long shelf life due to the constant changes in this software. He has put a lot of work into this. Although all this info is available on the net, he has put it all in one place which is very convenient. I recommend this book.

This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn about linux and most specifically Fedora 10 Linux. I recently purchased this book because I wanted to get a command of Linux. I must say that that I have not been disappointed.
While there is not a whole lot of screenshots, all that you need to get a fully functioning machine up and running. By the time you are done reading this book, you will have a solid understanding of linux - DNS, DHCP, Firewall, FTP etc. |
