By A Customer
This review is from: Feed Us a Fetus (Audio CD)
There were so many punk bands around the time when this album was made. But none captured the raw power and guts of punk like this one did.A must have for any hardcore punk rocker. O'canada.

5.0 out of 5 stars Night Out With Dayglo, December 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Feed Us a Fetus (Audio CD)
I have been listening to Dayglo Abortions for 13 years now, and I have yet to grow tired of the music. Stupid World and I Want to be An East Indian are amongst my favourite tunes. I recently saw Dayglo at The Babylon in Ottawa, Ontario and found my self suprised with the energy the foursome of 40-some year olds displayed. They changed Canadian Free-Speech Laws when the supreme court tried to have them censored and showed that true-canadian punk can't be stopped.

I AM PROUD TO BE A CANADIAN

PASS ME ANOTHER DAYGLO ALBUM

This review is from: Feed Us a Fetus (Audio CD)
I used to have this cd a few years ago , I had to buy it again. These guys sound good but I mainly just find it to be funny above anything else. Id recommend it if youd like a good laugh.

Well, I'm suprised that the Dayglo's have got so many international listeners. Pretty good for a Victoria punk band. I've been listening for quite a few years and I'ld say this album is the dayglo's at there worst. And I definatly recomend. P

5.0 out of 5 stars Punk Essentials pt.2, December 26, 2002

This, the debut album of the Dayglo Abortions, is the unquestionably the best thing they ever put out. "Here Today, Guano Tomorrow", the sophomore release, suffers the same problem as the Plasmatics' 2nd album; it's more metal than thrash, and not nearly as effective as satire.

Considering the relatively vast amount of quality punk that came out of the Vancouver (and Canada in general) scene, this is and was one of the diamonds. Having seen the band a few years back, my brother was told by the lead singer NOT to buy the first album (due to their not receiving any royalties off it), and this may not be the case anymore, but wherever the royalties go, this is one in a series of essential punk releases.

Similarly, check out Art Bergman's "Young Canadians," "Pointed Sticks", "Crash Kills Five", and of course, the timeless "D.O.A."

5.0 out of 5 stars The soundtrack to Juvenile Intensive Probation, October 3, 2006
This review is from: Feed Us a Fetus (Audio CD)
If I were to put a single album in a time capsule to tell the future what 1980's punk was all about, it would be this album. It's tasteless, low-brow, beer-drenched, and political -but without any pretense to intellectual sophistication or political correctness. There more than one song about nuclear apocalypse and Ronald Reagan is ON THE COVER. (Somehow punk has never been the same without Ronald Reagan...)

Then there's the song "I am my own God," which speaks for itself. ("I can do whatever I want, cuz I'm my own God. Don't have to worry if its right or wrong, cuz I'm my own God." Nietzsche could not have said it better.)

The music is amateurish and derivative, but you can tell these guys poured themselves into it, and in this game that's what counts.

This is the soundtrack to juvenile intensive probation. It smells like spraypaint, cigarettes, and Milwaukee's Best. Get a Walkman, and listen to this on cassette tape while learning to ride a skateboard.
