This book is well organized (you don't have to read it all at once), well written (it includes some funny anecdotes), and easy to follow. I would reccomend it to anyone with or without children. Very helpful advice laid out in a useful way.

Pamela Gould is an experienced research scientist and educator specializing in health and children's issues. Elanor P. Taylor is a registered nurse, a diabetes educator, and has taught wellness classes on issues ranging from weight loss to chronic disease management. Katherine Cason of a Professor and Lead Researcher at the Clemson University Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. All three of these distinguished women draw upon their many years of experience and expertise in "Feeding The Kids: The Flexible, No-Battles, healthy Eating System For The Whole Family", an instruction manual for parents of children ages 3 to 11 on how to not only prepare healthy meals, but get their kids to eat properly without resorting to arguments over food, avoiding 'food-guilt' mechanisms, and be able to truly enjoy family meal times. This 256-page, medically approved, non-extreme, user-friendly, do-it-yourself field guide with its thoroughly 'parent friendly' text is enhanced for the non-specialist general reader with the specific, action-oriented tools, lists, charts, 50 recipes, and 80 menus. An important and strongly recommended addition to community library collections, any parent who has ever had to deal with a reluctant child resistance to eating properly (including the avoidance of junk food) will want to give a careful reading to "Feeding The Kids".

Julie Atwater,
This review is from: Feeding the Kids: The Flexible, No-Battles, Healthy Eating System for the Whole Family (Fork and Spoon Field Guides) (Perfect Paperback)
This is such a wonderful book; I wish I'd had it when my kids were younger. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it back on the shelf. I had to buy several for my friends who have young children and one for my daughter, for my future grandchildren. I particularly appreciated the no nonsense approach to TEACHING our kids how to eat. Afterall they all have to feed themselves eventually and where else will they learn what foods give them nutrition and how much really constitutes a portion. They have to learn it from us. Wish I'd had this book before, but I'm glad to pass this one on for everyone around me. Thanks!

Awesome book! Realistic, interesting, and helpful. One doesn't have to run out and buy special ingredients or foods in order to follow this plan. My 7 yr. old granddaughter thinks there is only one food group: WHITE foods! These would be pasta, ice cream, white icing, rice, bread, etc. With this book, and some great suggestions, we (her mommy and I) have been able to encourage her to eat more healthfully without her even realizing it. The education behind the material in this book is vast and very credible (these women really know their stuff!). I highly recommend this book to any mother or grandmother trying to teach their children/grandchildren how to eat a healthier diet. Works for the entire family! Thanks for a super book!

I found this book while looking for some healthy recipes that my kids (2 & 4) would eat. It turned out to be much more than just recipes- it has changed the way our family eats- for the better! It has an easy to follow six-week plan, which I think is brilliant, because you can gradually add in healthy items and the kids don't even notice that they're eating healthier. The plan is also very flexible- you do what works for your family. I don't want to completely ban treats, but I know that for the most part we are eating healthy, so I don't mind us having some special treats now and then. It has some great recipes in it, too. I just think it is a great book for any parent to have and I highly recommend it! My family is well on it's way to a healthier diet and the kids enjoy the food, too.

"Feeding the Kids" is beautifully organized, well-researched and full of sound, sensible advice for parents who want to encourage healthy eating choices and habits for their kids. Easy, helpful tips on choosing and introducing foods for life abound, and nothing is forbidden. Foods are ranked in easy-to-remember categories, simplifying choosing foods for more healthy snacks and meals.
A section of simple-to-make recipes for snacks and meals is the 'frosting on the cake' of this wonderful book. I have tried several, and found them easy, quick to prepare, and delicious! I keep several of these books on hand to give for new-baby gifts. I wish it had been available when we were raising our family. It is so easy to fall back into the family eating patterns that existed when we grew up - and lay those on our children. This book blows a fresh breeze through all of that without making parents feel guilty or children feel pressured or deprived. And, even though our kids are grown, I find myself referring to it regularly!

A detailed and complete guide to feeding kids healthy foods,
This review is from: Feeding the Kids: The Flexible, No-Battles, Healthy Eating System for the Whole Family (Fork and Spoon Field Guides) (Perfect Paperback)
I bought this book because it made alot more sense to me than books like the "sneaky chef" or "deceptively delicious" where you try to trick your kids into eating healthy foods. This book is a great resource and it contains loads of information about nutrition that will help your entire family eat healthier. I can't say enough good things about this guide to feeding your kids the right things and how to get them to eat those things. I highly recommend reading it !

This review is from: Feeding the Kids: The Flexible, No-Battles, Healthy Eating System for the Whole Family (Fork and Spoon Field Guides) (Perfect Paperback)
It's great to know that parents don't have to surrender to the conventional wisdom that all kids will eat is junk! I wish I'd had this book 25 years ago when I was going nuts trying to get good food into my son. Feeding the Kids is now my favorite gift to give expectant mothers at baby showers. Thanks, ladies, for all your expertise and imagination!
