An Interesting Idea Done Well,
By
This review is from: Feeding the Masses (DVD)
I really enjoyed this movie, as soon as it started I realized I would. While watching Romero's trilogy I always love the news scenes, as things start to fall apart and the media struggles to remain calm - and I wished it were expanded upon. Well, here it is, and it was very entertaining.
Dripping in sarcasm, at first the film seemed a little too cheesy and the performances too over-the-top for me, but as it went on my opinion changed. I can really see my friends and I behaving in that bizarre a manner in that situation. In fact, the exaggerated manner of the film worked to keep me guessing as to whether this was a serious zombie flick or a parody. I think the former, but that's my opinion. Shades of "Stacy" were visible in Feeding the Masses, maybe. It could be an homage, some inspiration or just coincidence, but either way it was the flavor of funny I don't mind in my horror flicks. 4 out of 5 zombie couch potatoes

Feeding the Masses: Zombie Film as Social Satire,
By
This review is from: Feeding the Masses (DVD)
Do you want to be scared? I mean REALLY scared?
Then get a different movie. This one is NOT scary. On the other hand, if you're like me and you just love zombies and you have to see every freakin' flick that features the walking dead, this one ain't bad! Set in Providence, Rhode Island, the film follows Torch, a camera man for a tv news show there. The Zombie Holocaust is upon us, but the "man" doesn't want to talk about it! And so, the tv station, under the watchful eye of military observers, happily reports that things are getting better. Keep shopping! is the creed. There's a great scene in which the weather guy reports there's increased zombie activity in Zone 2, so folks there can "stay home tomorrow and enjoy this beautiful weather!" The acting is mixed. The quality of the video is medium. The plotline is pretty good, though. It's worth the time and money. Speaking of time, the box says the film is 2.5 hours. It's actually more like 90 minutes max. If you like your horror with a strong dash of political satire (and if you're a Romero fan, you gotta), check out FEEDING THE MASSES.

I am a big fan of low-budget zombie/horror films & i don't think "FEEDING THE MASSES" is a total flop, but i do think that these guys could have tried alot harder to make this great idea come to life! Between the sad sad make-up & efx & the ultra crappy acting you would think that there would have been enough gore to save it,but no! The only thing good about this movie is the concept/idea & even that isn't worth the money i spent on it! If you can find it for under $10 dollars its worthy to be in your low-budget zombie collection.

pathetic.......,
This review is from: Feeding the Masses (DVD)
if I could give this movie 0 stars it would still be too much.
Bad acting(looks like a bunch of local theater types to me), bad or no special effects, and an obvious, hackeneyed, derivative plot. I love zombie films and horror in general so I am not speaking as a typical movie fan. I know horror movies, I collect horror movies, and trust me this is no horror movie....this movie is a horror!

I was cracking up at the review that the guy wrote calling this a C-Movie. I just got done using some of the same words from my own experience at NetFlix. Bottom line, this movie simply sucks. It will waste your time in the worst possible way. Anyone who gives this movie any credit, is simply embelishing. The paper thin acting, cheesy effects, and sorry excuse for anything that ever had to do with a movie, will do nothing but disappoint. Enough horrible things could never be said about this movie, and live up to just how awful it really is. Just look at how many used ones are for sale here and you will see my point. I feel sorry for anyone who actually had the misfortune of paying full price for this thing. And I bet they are trying to pawn it off before everyone finds out just how big of a piece of trash this movie is. Pretty much every movie I have ever seen is better than this. So if you just want to see a crappy movie again, go see Battlefield Earth. LOL. Just about every colorful negative adjective applies to this movie. Any positive review of this movie must be from someone who was in the same film studies class as the director. (Insert vomiting sounds here).

Take my word as a fan of Zombie cinema,
By

Basically we all have our own opinions on movies as the one above states this as a 4 star movie. Now me personally, I dont think this is a 4 star, 5 star or even 3 star. The reason for the 2 stars is for the crystal clear picture and the good quality equipment Im assuming they had to shoot this flick.
Let me get into detail as a big fan of the Zombie genre, this is by far one of the worst Zombie films I have seen. I was about to buy it but thank God I rented it first from BlockBuster. Now I will be as specific as I can about this movie. Especially for all you Zombie fans. 1- There is very little Zombie action, Zombies pop up when convienent and then are gone for 15-20 minutes then maybe they will show 2 or 3 of them and in some scenes they just show the same Zombie multiple times. Not enough Zombie action to really call this a Zombie flick, though there are Zombies so it is a Zombie flick. 2-The make up is bad most casses just regular people with some red dangley looking meat hanging from there face or some blue make-up with some red liquid to look like blood, its just very fake and poor looking. They also walk with there are arms extended straight out whcih is kind of cheesy, to me atleast, also what I didnt like is that there are these news reporters standing around reporting about Zombies while they just seem to walk around the people doing absolutley nothing. especially when stated in the movie they only attack theliving, if so why were they not attacking at this part. 3- FX- they are just about as bad as can be the explosions and the fire in this movie is 100% fake and unrealistic, which is ok, but being the FX are so poor it doesnt even give you the feel that it looks real just very very fake, basically something off a video game is a very close comparison as you will get to these FX same for the gun shots you could see how fake they were when the sheellls were coming out of the gun. 4- The props which for some reason I dont know if they felt that they were excellent constantly showing closeups when these are literally hand made or just out of kay-bee toys. 5- The ending and the acting both are equally as bad the actors at times try to play very emotional parts and fail tremendousley, as well as try to be funny and the humor is so incredibly dry its insane. This movie also at time will get you forgetting this is a Zombie movie you are watching, with alot of useless dialogue I dont know how I stayed awake watching after 35 minutes I couldnt believe how bad it was. The end well just see for your self, I wont spoil anyting but will say they try to make it dramatic but when it ends you are kind of like ....what the hell... just very bad the way the movie just ends out of know where. The directing and editing is not bad at all, overall for a die hard Zombie fan this is not for you. If you like hardcore Zombie action with lots of violence this is not the flick at times I often think its a spoof and they are making fun of Zombie films which I didnt like either ,along with one Zombie wearing an evil dead shirt like its some type of tribute. This is by far one of the worst Zombie films I have ever seen some other films that are just as recognizably bad that I have seen and will name a few to stay away from are ..... " dead hate the living ", " Legion of the Dead ( New Release August 2005 ) ", "Oasis of the Zombies ", " HIde and Creep "," Garden of the Dead " and " Zombie Death House ". wait and I cant forget the 2 worst of them all and they are " Corpses are forever" and "Vampires vs Zombies" Dont get me wrong I love a good Zombie flick and a low budget one at that but the films I named are just absolutly horrible there are more but wanted to give a few ideas. If you are wanting some good low budget Zombie flciks or even just good ones in general check out any of the G.Romero's ( Night/Dawn/Day/Land of the dead ) , 2 good ones are also "eturn of the living dead 1+2" good funny bloody zombie flick, " Re-animator and Beyond Re-Animator", Zombi By Lucio Fulci,, now for some pretty low budget ones check out these also " Dead Meat ", " Stink of Flesh "<~~ made on a 3,000$ budget and its just an amazing job, " Rise of the undead "<~~~ not so many Zombies this is extremely the lowest but a very good Zombie flcik in its own way. And one of my favorites "Dead Next Door", just a low budget mess of blood and guts and violence and plenty of Zombies more than enough and very good makeup as well. basicallly rent b4 you buy so you dont spend $20 on this horrible movie " Feeding the Masses",maybe if you are a film student it would be good to see, butall my true Zombie fans out there beware this flick is bad and a waste of money.

What a brilliant idea. Seriously, Trent Haaga's concept was great....everything else was the opposite.
Given the choice of re-watching this brown steamer or a chainsaw in the face i'd at least review my options before answering.... If you want non mainstream zombie films look to "Stacy" or "Wild Zero"....Even "Dead & Breakfast"... I hate to leave such harsh words but, I can't get the time back that is forever gone I gave to this 3rd rate cable crapper.

When zombie files and radio dials conspire to dance again,

I can not believe the reviews I am reading for `Feeding the Masses'. Apparently, people feel that as long as they bill themselves as fans of the `Zombie' genre, they can blast low budget films out of the water. Keep in mind the production cost of the original Dawn of the Dead was $1.5M in 1977. The cost of music for the original Night of the Living Dead was $1500, and that was 1966 dollars. While I was not able to find the production cost of `Feeding the Masses', I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest it was a whole lot closer to $1500.
The point is the crew had an idea, and a very good one. If you can look past the poorly done gore and lackluster (but far from terrible) acting, `Feeding the Masses' makes for not only a very entertaining 90 minutes, but a scathing piece of social commentary. News features about the best way to cube a steak while zombies work toward ending the world punctuate what should go down as a noteworthy film. This movie was not designed to be a horror movie per se. Not intended to scare. It was not intended to appeal to the masses. It will not make its viewer question how they made a certain special effect look so good. What it will do is make its viewer think a bit more closely about the six-o'clock news and reports that the war is being won and the economy is recovering. I can not recommend this movie highly enough. Plenty of laughs, decent gore, a creative take on the zombie genre make it one to watch time and time again. And to the reviewers who insist on steering traffic away from movies like `Feeding the Masses', please go buy the widescreen edition of `The Fantastic Four' and review it. If everybody listened to your ideas, there would be no more zombies. Just Paris Hilton horror.

Ok, yes this is not the "BEST" zombie movie ever..but I gotta give them applause because they did something never done before. The stort line was original as much as it could be with zombies. It made me laugh, it has these commericals in the movie that are great. If your looking for scary this may not be it, but if your looking for new and fun this is a good choice. Great job all who worked on this film, take more risks!
