for your dog's own good, please avoid this book. it is unfortunate that just anybody can and does write books these days. there is flat out misinformation in this book. here is just one example: the author recommends feeding grapes to dogs. grapes are listed on the poison list for dogs. there are others too numerous to list.
if you want to know the FACTS about canine nutritional needs, i recommend:
1) 'home prepared dog and cat diets' by donald strombeck, DVM
2) 'canine nutrition' by lowell ackerman, DVM
3) 'small animal clinical nutrition' by hand, thatcher, remillard, roudebush (this is a veterinary text book, you can find it used for a good price at amazon)
these books have good chapters on nutrition:
1) 'dr pitcairn's complete guide to natural health for dogs & cats' by richard pitcairn, DVM
2)) 'natural health bible for dogs & cats' by shawn messonnier, DVM
3) 'dog health & nutrition for dummies' by christine zink, DVM

This book really opened my eyes on what is in our dogfood bag/can listing.....ive always bought quality food for my dogs Thank goodness....but I can still do more...I bought this book to help me get a rescue dog who is overweight do to theprevious owner's feeding back to a good weight....little did I no what a lifesaver it would be for questions and answers for that and my other dogs as well as to what is in there food and what I can do to make it better.....its up to date in information....and what some of the pet food companies do to try to do to cut costs makes me cringe....even if your pet does not have any food challanges....get this and read it...to see whats in the food your feeding......B.W.

This book is easy to read and not at all complicated for the everyday pet owner like me to comprehend...it is very precise in exactly what is needed for a complete nutrition for our pets and offers many choices without making us feel quilty about how we feed or what we can afford for our loved pets... Thank you Diane morgan for making my choice of feed easier.
