Review

"It's more than a cookbook, it's a real lesson in survival" - Adrienne Samuels, PhD. Truth in Labling -- TLC

About the Author

Annie Costa has been a freelance writer and researcher of health related topics for over 10 years. Her personal stuggles with MSG and other food additives began as early as birth, and though unknown at the time, she later found out she was highly sensitive to the toxicity of food additives, such as MSG and aspartame and suffered miserably through-out her youth and young adulthood.

After being told she was "MSG sensitive", Annie struggled to keep it out of her diet and found it impossible. Symptoms continued even though she read labels and avoided "MSG" and monosodium glutamate. In the early 90's, there were few authorities that would recognize her situation and no one place to go for help or information on diet and life style changes that might help. The information available was limited, incomplete or very technical and she felt that a book for layman was absolutely necessary.

She's written The Feel Good Handbook with a focus on MSG and determined that so many other additives can put someone at risk that she would extend the books reference materials to include available information on all additives, their "names" and possible problems that they may cause.

She's available for comments and questions at the publisher's website. annie@msgfree.com.

This review is from: The Feel Good Handbook (Paperback)
After reading "The Feel Good Handbook" (that's MSG FREE's - New Title) I realized how TOXIC I was. I started to clean out my system according to the books guidelines and "hidden sources" lists! What an incredible difference eating correctly does for your body! I've lost 48lbs!! My symptoms were as normal as the next person's (migraines, digestive problems, bloating, heartburn, anxiety, depression) after I ate a favorite meal or anything for that matter. It's been a living hell!! With the help of "The Feel Good Handbook" I've realized how sensitive I truly was to the nasty affects MSG has on my system - and everyone elses!!Thanks Annie for getting the TRUTH out about those nasty excitotoxins and "free glutamic acids" in our food supplies! Check your labels everyone - THIS IS FOR REAL!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible resource guide, up-to-date, easy to read & robust, August 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Feel Good Handbook (Paperback)
This book finally opened my eyes to what was causing a huge amount of problems I was experiencing. Headaches, stomach problems, sleeplessness, anxiety; I thought I was going to have a heart attack once! My doctor was treating me for "stress" related disorders and I was better, however continuing to suffer only milder symptoms.

After reading the book, I carried around the "hidden sources list" with me when I went shopping. It was amazing how many of the items on this list appeared on packaged food labels! Even "fresh" items like cheese and dairy products! It took a few weeks to see improvement because we had to sort out the good from the bad in our cupboards following the books advice. Once we did, not only did my headaches and bellyaches go away, so to did my husbands! I was shocked and amazed - "one ingredient" could cause so much pain. This book is a must buy if you are MSG sensitive!
