Book Description

September 18, 2001
Let the irrepressible president of the Philadelphia 76ers show you how to succeed in this invaluable blueprint for business and life.

A pioneer in the sports physical therapy industry, Pat Croce went from the training room to the boardroom in one of the most unlikely stories in sports history -- a classic rags-to-riches tale made possible by his indestructible positive attitude. With the same unstoppable character that has made him a favorite motivational speaker of Fortune 500 executives, Croce recounts the moments that taught him to strive for and achieve greatness.

But I Feel Great and You Will Too! is more than just the story of one man's remarkable journey. Throughout this moving, often hilarious, and always brutally honest book, Croce hits you with pointers on goal setting, communication, creative thinking, desire, dedication, and much more. Croce also includes his "Ten Commandments of Customer Service," the same guidelines he used to become one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the sports industry.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Croce comes across loud and clear in his memoir-slash-motivational program. The owner of the Philadelphia 76ers is a go-getter par excellence, and in telling the story of his life, he works in a lot of the get-ahead philosophy that has served him well both personally and professionally and, he hopes, will help his readers in maintaining their drive to achieve their goals. Croce's story is not really a rags-to-riches saga, but he did come from relatively nowhere to found the successful Sports Physical Therapists enterprise and then moved on to the presidency of the 76ers. The core of his book--or at least the part that transles best into other people's home and work lives--is the discussion of his "Ten Commandments of Customer Service." These commandments include the necessity of listening well, the basic need for communicating clearly, and the hows and whys of giving compliments. At the end of relating the details of his career climb and the self-knowledge he gained from his experiences, Croce winds it all up by emphasizing that the journey through life, not the destination per se, is what is truly important. "It's the getting there that you will carry with you always," he concludes. The most effective aspect of this book, which is being heavily promoted by the publisher and will certainly be in demand at the circulation desk, is that although Croce does not come up with many new ideas about self-improvement and self-promotion, he does have a very personal and persuasive way of expressing them. So many books, so little time. Which one should I read? Which one should I invest in with my precious time? I know one book for sure that is worth your time, your money, your commitment. It's Pat Croce's new book---'I Feel Great'.

Revealing, rewarding, riviting.

When you spend time with Pat through this book, you come away energized, determined, motivated and enlightened.

Many people TALK a good game, Pat WALKS his.

I have always been a fan of GREATNESS,trying to understand what makes each one of them so incredibly different. This book was a real education. There is so much entertainment, information, creative thinking, desire and much more. Pat is fascinating and most of all...REAL. You will not be able to STOP reading it.

He combines with noted columnist Bill Lyon to present insight into and a look behind the scenes of his incredible journey from physical trainer to CEO. Bill Lyon is a five time PULITZER PRIZE NOMINEE and it shows on every page.

5.0 out of 5 stars How can you not feel GREAT......., October 11, 2000
By
Andrew Zelenkofske (Hunting Valley, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This book reads with as much energy as a Power Bar. The combination of life's lessons, helpful hints and humorous anecdotes makes for an enjoyable reading experience that is non- stop. It gives hope to those who choose to chase their dreams and gives inspiration to those who have not yet dared to try. At times Croce's story seem to good to be true but then he brings you back to reality with a self-deprecating story that shows that he has his faults too and that the secret of his success is learning from those faults and moving on in a positive way. A must read if you are interested in the pathway to success. It makes you feel great and I believe that his story is not yet finished being written.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pat Croce feels great and I do too!, October 1, 2003

This review is from: I Feel Great and You Will Too!: An Inspiring Journey of Success with Practical Tips on How to Score Big in Life (Paperback)
whether or not you know the name pat croce, once you read his inspirational story you can't help but know the name. his motivation and drive launched him from the training room of sports injuries to the front office of sports ownership. an endless go-getter who went and got, pat croce reminds the reader to be hopelessly positive. his 'ten commandments of customer service' is a bible of business. and if owning the 76ers basketball team and starting the high-altitude Slamball league weren't enough, Pat Croce is also a highly motivated motivational speaker, author, television personality, and as his book says 'big scorer.' he'll tell you the secrets to being able to drain that 3-pointer, block that kick, and make that sale (though not all at the same time)! don't think of him so much as an 'entrepreneur' but more as an 'encourageneur.' he even inspired me to write this review! read this book!
