Editorial Reviews

One of the busiest and most in demand performers in contemporary jazz re-emerges. You ll feel the temperature rising with the release of red hot guitarist/vocalist Nick Colionne s latest offering and first for Trippin N Rhythm Records entitled Feel The Heat one that contains all of the elements that have come to make Nick s stage performances so dynamic and in demand funky R&B infused jazz, blues, smooth vocals and his sense of humor.
Feel his trademark funk/groove guitar stylings on the tracks Some Funky and The Windy Dance the kind of movin tunes that get Nick s audiences on their feet and groovin to the beat. Nick backs off the throttle a bit showing his soulful, sultry side with the ballads Let s Spend Some Time and Midnight And You highlighted by Nick s signature smooth baritone vocals and adds a heaping helping of the blues as only he can do on Can t Let Go .
No One Size Fits All here as Heat reflects the multiplicity of different styles and flavors that have come to define this feel good artist with a natural flair and charisma that has endeared him to multitudes worldwide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feeling the Heat July 16, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
I am feeling the heat from this latest from Nick Colionne. I own all of Nick's CDs and do not let some of the other reviewers stop you from checking out this gem. Yes there are a few smooth vocals on this CD, and for smooth jazz fans the deep rich vocals are well received. There is a vocal track as well that shows Nick's humor as well. I am really sorry the other reviewers could not catch the flair. Feel the Heat is a CD that I can play all the way thru and enjoy every track. Keep up the great work Nick and looking forward to Feeling the Heat on tour this year. Some Funky and The Connection are two of my favorites.

2.0 out of 5 stars Are you serious? July 15, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
Well I have to say that I have all of Nick's other cd's and could not wait for his new release, but I was shocked and disappointed with 'Feel the Heat'. When it comes to playing the guitar Nick has that mastered, but there were some perfectly good songs on this cd that were ruined with vocals.

This is very disappointing knowing that Nick has the kind of talent to pick those chords but felt the need to sing on some of the tracks. I have Nick's last cd 'No Limits' and there is a song called 'Melting into You' that took a while to grow on me but that is one of my favorite tracks on that cd, and yes, Nick is actually singing.

I don't know what happened on 'Feel the Heat' but I can't believe that his management company actually listened to those songs with him singing and said ok, that's good, lets release them.

I'm sure Nick, like other artist have songs they've previously recorded that were not released, he would have been better off putting some of those instrumentals on his new cd to replace the current tracks with vocals.

Knowing that it will probably be another 3-5 years (if not longer) before he releases a new cd, it's a real let down because he is so talented but I'm not feeling the heat, play the guitar and leave the singing to someone else.
