If you don't know the stranglers? Get to know them. No More Heros is essential listening. Of the "punk bands", no one else could slam serious keyboards into it and make it work. If I were to compare this to anything? Hmm. Rezillos come close on musicianship. Siouxsie & the Banshees "Scream". Earlier stuff by the Stranglers includes "Peaches", which is really nice. This is seminal punk at it's prime. It rivals most anything ever. The addition of the keyboards takes the whole thing to a level that most punk bands never achieved, unless you want to discuss "Germ Free Adolescents" by X-Ray Specs. (The advent of the sax in punk was only rivaled here by Romeo Void.)If you love late 70's, early 80's punk? This stuff will knock your socks off. It's also good to check out a later album, "Aural Sculpture", but it's definitely a progressive movement into a different genre. (Hey, just my 2 cents...)
