5.0 out of 5 stars Blooze, blooze, blooze!
Mr Earl is BACK! Definitely his best since "Live in Europe". No jazz in sight, only soul-saving and gut-wrenching blues!

It's like each songs pays hommage to a particular blues man. From the swinging Freddie King-style opener, over rough'n'ready Howlin' Wolf (Wolf Dance) and John Lee Hookers type tunes to the sweet'n'soulful closer Donna... This whole album's...

1.0 out of 5 stars You've Got To Be Kidding !
I had never heard of Ronnie Earl until a few minutes ago. I read these rave reviews on here and decided to listen to the samples of this CD. The title of my review says it all. The world's greatest blues guitarist??? Whatever it is you're smokin'.....I don't want any! This has got to be one of the worst sounding electric guitars I've ever heard! It's so shrill thin and...

Ronnie Earl is definitely one of the top 3 best blues guitarists out there today. Wonder what a collaboration between him and Duke Robillard would sound like?

Gentlemen? An idea for the future?

Five stars! Anything less is an abomination!

One of the greatest shows I ever saw was Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters in 1995 in Portsmouth, NH-- three hours of blues and deep jazz and gospel grooves. The same holds true for this new album, though it does not feature as much jazz material as the previous albums have. Instead, the emphasis is on intense blues shuffles and ballads, with one vocal (a great gospel collaboration that suggest Ronnie coulld do a full album of ths). As always, Ronnie's tone and attack are breath-taking, esp. in paying tribute to folks like Otis Rush and Howlin' Wolf (and his lead Hubert Sumlin). The liner notes are quite revealing and inspirational, with Ronnie confessing that his love of music makes his recent triumphs over manic-depression that much sweeter. (And props to Ronnie for paying respects to the next generation of guitarists, esp. Sue Foley). For long-time fans, this will be a welcome album. For newcomers, you're in for a real treat--once you've heard Ronnie, you're a fan for life.

I can't believe there's music like this out there that no one's heard of. This guy is absolutly incredible!! If you're really into blues or just starting, you need to pick up this album, especially if you like guitar blues. I feel the compassion coming from Ronnie's licks, like he knows what I'm thinking. He shows emotion through his playing and sincerley plays from the heart, where blues should come from. Pick up this album, you will NOT be disappointed!

I look forward to every new release from Ronnie Earl as an important event in the history of modern music.
Ronnie has consistently put out album after album that I will still be listening to 15 years from now.
And this latest release has just added to Ronnie's legacy as the best damn guitar player anywhere.
The words that came out of my mouth when I listened to it for the first time were Thank you.
As I am a huge fan of Ronnie Earl and this new release is one of his best, I will say it again.
THANK YOU MR. EARL.

Ronnie Earl has battled manic depression for many years and has still managed to produce some outstanding blues albums. Although his last release on Telarc was a bit off track for him I am glad to report that he is back in full blues glory. I found myself turning up the volume on several tracks, which range from traditional 3/4 chord blues to boogie blues. His playing is crisp, sharp and outstanding. If your a blues fan and don't like this CD than I suggest you move to classical cause this is one ass kickin CD. Well done and welcome back Ronnie..your right we are here to help each other !!

After a couple of slow & uninspired ablums Ronnie Earl has returned to playing jaw dropping guitar on "I Feel Like Goin' On". Buy this one and "Blues Guitar Virtuoso Live..." and you'll get enough inspiration for years of jammin' on that strat. Whew!

Phenomenal! Jaw-dropping! Awesome! I could go on, but I think you get the picture. With this release Ronnie Earl returns to the killer Blues guiter sound that I fell in love with when I first heard "Blues Guitar Virtuoso Live In Europe". The band is tight, and the songs are bluesy...no jazz-fusion thrown in on this one. If anyone were ever to ask you what modern Blues guitar player was the very best, you could name Ronnie Earl...then submit this CD as evidence and you'd have a very compelling case!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ronnie Earl is Sensational!, April 1, 2003

This review is from: I Feel Like Goin' On (Audio CD)
Simply stated, "I Feel Like Goin' On" is one of the best blues instrumental releases in a very long time. The songs are filled to the brim with heartfelt emotion and vibe that will touch your soul. Numerous reports have indicated that Earl has been having some difficulties of late, and around the time "Healing Time" was released, even suggested that Earl was considering hanging up his guitar. The liner notes hint that Earl's problems may be related to manic depression and, after some reflection, Earl proclaims "I Feel Like Goin' On" seeking strength from a higher source. Mr. Earl also writes "I make music in the hopes of touching your soul. It's not fame that I seek or need. Only to touch you spiritually, to bring some light on to you because you have touched me..." All I can say is, mission accomplished. Eleven original tunes, one vocal featuring the Silver Leaf Gospel Singers and over 74 minutes of the best blues you will find anywhere

Never has an artist affected me as does Ronnie Earl. The man has the special ability to gently reach inside the listener and mine emotions. He draws out the pain and works it into joy. I've found nearly everything he's released and it seems a collage of most human experience. This recording adds to a sense of his growing power, serenity and sense of humor. It seems that increasingly Ronnie Earl has the strength to transport others effortlessly into aspects of themselves unseen. My hope is for his musical genius and leadership to continue inspiring the world.
