Good 60's Folk-Garage,
By A Customer
This review is from: Feel the Vejtables (Audio CD)
I became interested in the vejtables after seeing them on a video of various 60's tv music shows I have. They were doing a mimed performance of "I Still Love You" on where the action is I'm pretty sure. I also saw them doing that song and "Anything" on a different show. They are a pretty obscure band from San Francisco. Jan Errico, the drummer for the first few songs (the original band lineup), was also in the Mojo Men. I Still Love You managed to chart when it was released.

Mills and Capuchino High Schools - Sixties
Jan Errico was 1st Chair Triangle and Wood Block ---While I was 4th Chair Trumpet in 3 Chair Section.. Jan went on to be with the "Vejatables" and "We Five" (You Were On My Mind) Humbling, but so was our band instructor Dwight Hall. Billy Fulton, up the road a piece, went on to get the "Grass Roots" going and joined "Tower of Power". Wonder what happened to Julio and Al, Trumpet and Sax extrordiaires? Georgeann at 1st Chair Clarinet looking like a Greek Goddess and Jack on French Horn rounded out the "old" people. Wait- Val Garay was there in spirit, new white chevy blazin in to the visiting Mills High parking lot. Mr. Hixon turning red. I think he was there more than at Burlingame. Val went on to produce some of the worlds greatest music :Val Garay is a record producer and engineer who has worked with Kim Carnes, The Motels, Marty Balin, Gary U.S. Bonds, Joan Armatrading, Dolly Parton, Pablo Cruise, James Taylor, Queensr˙che, Cock Robin, Dramarama, E-Z-O, Ringo Starr, Linda Ronstadt, Nicolette Larson and TONS of others. In 1982 he shared a Grammy Award for Record of the Year with Kim Carnes, for the record Bette Davis Eyes." Anways this blurb got started by telling my kids about Jan Errico, getting an A for hitting the triangle in Mr. Halls band class. [...]

It's great to be able to locate nostalgia and collectibles via the internet. I've found things I thought I'd never hear or see again.
This group is just an amazing "poppy" sounding band from my youth. Jan Errico is an amazing creative talent. It's a little known but absolutely excellent gem.

I was just out of high school when the Vejtables, a local folk rock group from the bay area had "I still love you" on the top 40. they were promoted by radio station KYA. I went to a rock concert in Oct 1965, They and other included, Charlie Rich, Neil Diamond, the Lovin Spoonful, The Birds, The Supremes, The Shangri-las, Glen Cambell, The Tikis, Roy Head, The Jefferson Airplane, Little Anthony and the Imperials and the head liner of the show was Sonny and Cher..!!!
