This album contains mediocre (recent) re-recordings of some of the bands hits! Don't waste your money and don't reward the record company for misleading you with a title like the "Very Best of..." The Time Life series contains the original "96 Tears" if that's what you're after.

New remakes after more then 20 years are ALWAYS plain trash. The band is too much older, but anyway, collectors are looking for original recordings. DON'T BUY IT!.

The major "problem" with this disc is that people are buying it thinking that it's got the original recordings and that's not the case. THIS IS NOT A CD OF THE ORIGINAL RECORDINGS OF THESE SONGS! The band doesn't own those recordings anymore I bet. Too bad. This is the first and only recording of Question Mark and the Mysterians that I have in my collection. I picked it up without being a fan and now I plan to check out all of their stuff. I LOVED THIS! I'd heard the original songs on the radio many times and it was clear to me as I heard this CD that it wasn't the original recordings... but damn this is good! DON'T GET THIS IF YOU WANT THE ORIGINAL RECORDINGS but if you want to hear a band that is still rockin' then check this out! THIS IS A GREAT COLLECTION OF TUNES IF YOU TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT IS. ACCEPT IT ON IT'S OWN TERMS. *Awesome, awesome, awesome!*

96 TEARS DOES NOT SOUND LIKE THE ORIGINAL VERSION WHEN IT FIRST WAS INTRODUCED!!!! ON A ORIGINAL SCALE OF 1TO10 IT GETS A GENEROUS (2)

okay, these are not the original recordings, but this band is still the epitome of garage rock. and they certainly blow away imitators like the lords of altamont. makes a nice addition to their two original albums, which are available for those who want them. and if you don't, you should.

Varese Sarabande really blew it with this CD. Obviously, they could not get licencing from ABKCO for the original hit recording of "96 Tears", so they offer (much later) remakes. The demos sound really bad, in quality.

As others have said, these are not the original versions of the songs they did in the '60s. But listen to the snippets available on this web page and I think you'll agree that it doesn't matter. "96 Tears" is so faithfully done that it sounds almost identical to the band's original version. The Spanish version is a cool addition as well. And the song "Don't Give It Up Now" completely and utterly ROCKS!
