5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Especially The Take On "Aquarius!", March 4, 2005
This review is from: Feel Your Way (Audio CD)
I should preface by saying that this CD is my first exposure to The Spencer Davis Group (other than hearing "I'm a Man" on the radio since childhood), so I'm speaking from the viewpoint of a novice admirer, not a seasoned Spencer Davis fan.

I'm normally not bowled over by blues in the rock-music vein, but there are exceptions. This is the finest exception to the rule I have encountered. The opening title tune "Feel Your Way" has a laid-back yet empowering essence to it, and from that opening number to the closing track, this CD is an audible high that never comes down.

Several extremely cool departures from the blues sound in this album reveal themselves on back-to-back tracks: "Aquarius" and "Mr. Second Class." The band's take on "Aquarius" is excellent, and by far the most unique spin I have ever heard on that tune. If you happen to be one of those "Hair" fanatics, this CD is worth picking up just for this track, which they sing in a Germanic tongue, and edit out every other verse. The instrumentals have a moody exotic flair, a fascinating departure from the "Aquarius" we know; not to be missed!

All in all, this is a really great album. I don't know how it compares to the myriad of Spencer Davis releases, but I plan to find out!
