5.0 out of 5 stars Singer/songwriter BLISS!!! Extraordinary CD!!!
Pete Murray is a 'find' for us. My wife and I have been listening to this CD nonstop, since she bought it after listening to an online sample of the song 'Feeler' a few months ago. Pete's voice is incredible, with a smoky, sexy quality to it, and needless to say, the lyrics and music are heartfelt and top notch to say the least! This is one of our 'top finds' for 2003,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this CD.
I don't have this album. I haven't even heard all the songs, but I have read the lyrics, and that's enough to tell me that this album isn't worth buying. The songs I have heard were mediocre at best, this music is not challenging, its not even relaxing, its stupefying. You want lyrics with emotions and real meaning? buy a Bob Dylan album or a Nick Drake album, not this...

This is one of our 'top finds' for 2003, to be sure. We are really into excellent singer/songwriters who sing with passion and great melody, and hope to see Pete tour the USA, and get good exposure here. If you like this CD, also check out this New Jersey singer/songwriter, Steven Delopoulos, and his wondrous CD called 'Me Died Blue'. Both Delopoulos and Murray are strokes of singer/songwriter genius, with passion not seen too often these days!

i first heard of pete murray from a work coleague who invited me to see him at a local pub in brisbane. i declined the offer and have regretted it ever since. the first time i put the album on, i loved it, and i have been captivated by it ever since. i dont claim to be a music buff or anythimg like that, but i think that if this bloke starts getting a bit of airtime, a hell of a lot of people are going to be writing positive comments about this fantastic aussie artist!! gunn it son!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Found Him At JJJ, November 14, 2004
This review is from: Feeler (Audio CD)
I found Pete on the list of top 100 songs of the year at Triple J radio station's website. They're a station in Australia and I frequently check their website for up-and-comers. I found Alex Lloyd on there as well. Both him and Pete Murray are 2 of my favorite artists. Pete's music is so touching and melodic. I hope he makes it big in the U.S. because he deserves it, but part of me wants him to remain anonymous because I don't want him to change.

Pete Murray is an amazing singer/songwriter whose voice is almost a whisper, yet has such a strong effect in his songs. his songs are written with passion and he can write lyrics to a song which are completely honest and inspiring. his guitar playing is so smooth, as in feeler, starting with an acoustic guitar, then introducing keyboard, and accordian ...all mix in together smoothly. pete is a truly talented aussie artist. 'Feeler' is one of those albums where u can pick it up in 30 years time and still appreciate and listen to the music the same way you did before.

a good buy, support australian music and purchase feeler. beautful, honest and smooth music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing :), September 18, 2003
This review is from: Feeler (Audio CD)
I can't stop listening to this album. Murray's voice is the centerpiece of this whole work. Smooth and honey-like, but with tons of authority. This is a CD you will leave in your player for WEEKS. I know I will.

Favorite tracks are 1,2,3, and 8.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, so beautiful, September 28, 2006
By
This review is from: Feeler (Audio CD)
I am proud to say unashamably that Pete Murray hails from my city. This is Pete's 2004 debut album release called 'Feeler' and all I can say this is one beautiful album. It is rare for an album to have 3 hit songs and all in a row from the 1st song 'Feeler' that is self titled, to the second song 'Bail Me Out' followed by the huge hit on Australian radio even this year 'So Beautiful'. This song is romantic and shows that Pete Murray oozes with tonnes of talent and can sing.

Pete Murray began singing in local Sydney pubs and clubs before picking up the Columbia label and now he has success and rightly so. Pete is a talented singer who is down to earth and every song means that much to him. The lyrics are his own and come from life experiences he has been through. Pete Murray quickly has ascended the Australian and New Zealand charts and has also become a figure in the folk rock/pop scene. He followed this album with a 2005 release which I shall review in the coming months.

This album is produced well and each song lacks nothing. This is one of those albums that you can tell the artist has made sure each of his favourite songs were included. Columbia gave Pete Murray freedom and this paid off. The songs 'Bail Me Out', 'So Beautiful' and 'Lines' are my favourite. But all the songs on this album are perfect. Whether you are listening to it alone, or a loved one or as background in a party - this album delivers in every aspect.

Pete Murray is the proof that the Australian music scene is alive and kicking. He is a pure legend. This album is played regularly by myself and I have become a fan of his talent and modesty.

Wow, this guy can sing!! I have been lucky to see him play live twice within the last 5-6 months and man he rocks.

This cd would have to be one of the best I have as his lyrics and the subtle guitar licks through out the cd makes this a must have. It is a shame that he doesn't get the credit he deserves although his second cd is getting more airplay.

So go out and buy it you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Destined to become a classic album, January 9, 2005

Simple yet elegant. Distinctive but easy to listen to. The sort of CD you'd have out ready to play if having guest/s over.

Pete's distintive vocals mixed with his acoustic and bluesy at times feel makes this album an example of individual songwriting skill and composition. From the riff driven "Feeler" to the melancholy "Beautiful", this album deserves the recognition it is getting in Australia. I just hope Pete's subsequent albums dont become watered down by complexity, commercialism and popular demand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Talent to Burn, November 5, 2004

Buy it now and lock it in. So Beautiful is the song of the year. The rest is 4 * class. The future is over-popularity and the risks of over-production. Buy it now before they throw in the drum machines and complicated arrangements. Straight from the soul but way too marketable.

As an Australian living abroad I'm out of the loop when it comes to great new Aussie talents, lucky for me my sisters have their fingers on the pulse and thoughfully sent me a copy of this album.
Brilliant stuff - Peter Murray's voice is both soothing and romantic without being mawkishly sentimental. I play this CD whenever I have friends over and they all love it. This is a must for any music lover.
