"222" is the 2-disc uncut version of this standup set. Its a full 2-discs, but it is non-stop funny. If you know that you like Patton's standup (from watching Comedians of Comedy, or his Comedy Central special) save yourself the trouble and get 222. Its only sold through a smaller site (or at indy record stores, apparently) you can find that if you go to Patton's website.

So, really, there's no reason that you shouldn't buy this CD, but if you want the "full" Patton Oswalt experience, hunt down a copy of 222 while you still can!

Patton Oswalt is one of the best comedians going today. The reason: he has respect for comedy. This CD is a perfect example of that respect. In comedy, you can pull no punches. You can't lay off people because they are the president, or metally retarded...or both. Patton's gift is in his descriptive phrasing. He gives so much description into the scenes he paints that you can almost see it. It makes the joke even funnier because you are using almost every single sense you have in order to experience the joke. His best bits are hilarious:

His take on Black Angus and steak in general

80's Metal

Robert Evans on ESPN(anyone who heard those spots will crack up with laughter because it is essentially true)

Bad porn advertising

And my favorite bit...Stella D'oro breakfast treats!(I remember those ads!)

I recommend that you listen to this CD in your house sitting down. Do not use while driving because you will have an accident. Keep it up, Patton. I can't wait to hear another CD.

And work, he does. Not only does he have a recurring role on a sit-com, King of Queens (which is cleary just a way to pay the bills, and a waste of his talent, in my opinion), not only is he always doing stand-up, not only does he polish high-profile screenplays, not only does he write comics... etc, etc.
The point is this CD is the funniest thing I've heard, well, since I saw him live 3 years ago and didn't know who the heck he was. His joy in his work is infectious and his razor sharp wit and pop culture knowledge will wow you and win you over, as it did me.
Unless of course you're an advocate for gay retards. In which case you will hate it.

Patton Oswalt is a sheer comic genius. This CD of his proves it once and for all. I've heard a lot of his routines, and the unique thing about him is that he doesnt have the exact same routine with the exact same jokes on all of them. Most comedians have the same jokes over and over, which is usually okay because they're traveling to different audiences who havent heard them yet. But he's so creatively funny, he makes me laugh louder, longer, and most frequently than any other comedian i've heard in a while, and i listen to almost any big name comedian out there. be it lewis black or jerry seinfeld, george carlin or denis leary, patton oswalt has the better jokes in his routine. this is a must-get if you are into good comedy.

I'm a huge fan of Patton's stand-up and have seen him perform live many times, so few of these routines were new to me. (The porn spam bit was one I hadn't heard before.) But what separates good comedy from great comedy is its repeatability, and that's what makes this CD a must-buy. I still laugh and laugh at classic Oswalt bits like "80's Metal," "Steak" and "Your Moment of Irony." And "Robert Evans" slays me every single time. If you're new to Oswalt's stand-up, buy this CD and enjoy what you've been missing; if you're a long-time fan, you'll be glad for the opportunity to be able to listen to Patton without a two-drink minimum.

Those of you who know Patton Oswalt exclusively from The King of Queens might be shocked at his standup comedy -- it definitely isn't fit for prime time on television. Like the best material from George Carlin and Richard Pryor, Oswalt's rants are very un-P.C., very raunchy, very hilarious and completely out of left field. His targets range from liquor ads to porno e-mails to how much he hates hippies. However, the best material deals with subjects we all are familiar with but take for granted: Paas Easter Egg kits, Tom Carvel ads, the Chipmunks Christmas album and, most memorably, the Black Angus Steak House commercials (run the gauntlet of angry food!). The best rountine, however, is probably a raunchy spoof of movie producer Robert Evans' ESPN radio ads. If you're a fan of Mr. Evans, Diane Keaton, Tom Wopat, Gil Gerard, Angie Dickinson or Loretta Swit, you probably won't appreciate the very raw humor of this album. Patton Oswalt, in this very P.C. era, has the guts to let it all hang out, even at the risk of "gasp!" offending someone. It's nasty, but it's unbelievably funny as well.

This CD is so funny, you'll have to change your pants at least twice before it's over. It gets better and better as it goes on, too. God bless Patton...Anybody who can work Fudgie the Whale into a stand-up bit deserves the bronze star of comedy. Buy this CD. Now!!

Patton Oswalt has been one of the funniest bee-yatches on the underground scene to emerge since the death of Bill Hicks. Before now, outside of the clubs, we've been limited to two half hour pieces on HBO and Comedy Central to get our Patton fix, some Conan sightings, and of course his surreal day job as a side character on a pleasant yet inherently mediocre sitcom (think Kaufman on Taxi). Now we finally get a taste of the true Patton. And it tastes like Cookie Puss.
I once saw him throw aside his planned act at a pilot filming and start doing his midget piece and it was like he ripped the roof off with his little munchkin hands. A recording can never do as much as the real thing, but this one does capture why Oswalt's is a voice that matters.
Oswalt's work is difficult to shove into a category. He hits on obscure yet universal Gen X standards like Carvel, Paz, and the PBS painters, but he adds this level of darkness to it, and a voice that manages to take the random into the range of the profound. He tackles social and political absurdities, but hits the right balance if sentiment without headline specifics which keep the jokes timeless, indirect and yet even more on point.
This shrunken SOB is the real deal.
And people say lesbians aren't funny.
