A fantastic synth pop treasure!!!!!,
By Mike Roach (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Feeling Cavalier (Audio CD)
EBN-OZN are best known for "AEIOU Sometimes Y" and "Bag Lady", but they're lone album "Feeling Cavalier" is a fantastic synth pop treasure with lots of other great songs besides the two they're best known for, such as "Stop Stop Give It Up" (which was another single, but didn't have a video. I think it was only issued as a promo though.), Kuchenga Pamoja, Video D.J. and a crazy, but fun cover of Rockin' Robin, just to name a few. EBN died in 1998, but I don't know where OZN is now. I guess he's still involved in the film business, but he doesn't have an official site or anything. Anyway, "Feeling Cavalier" is an album that every 80's fan and/or synth pop fan shouldn't be without!!!!!

I have been waiting for this to come to cd forEVER. I had let the vinyl go, when I moved cross-country, with the crazy thought at the time that I would simply replace it on CD. Little did I know that it wasn't available then. I am one of those crazy people that has been emailing the record company, looking for it every few months on the Internet ... just in case. This album is literally my favorite album of the new wave synth style. Every song is a gem, with my personal favorite being their cover of Rockin' Robin. If you like 80's new wave music, I would consider this album a MUST HAVE for any 80's essential cd collection.

I am glad to have finally added the digital version of this to my collection. I had the original vinyl back in the day and I loved it's quirky subject matter and classic 80s synth pop sound. Ned Liben (EBN) was the composer who sculpted the synth sound. I believe that he went on to work with Scritti Politti and, sadly, died in 1998 of a heart attack. I was a member of the Kurzweil K2000 User Group back then and one of the other members was close to him and his wife. He said that they had mastered a digital version of the album for release and it was just a matter of time before it became available. Well, I am glad to finally own it.
The only reason that I didn't give this a 5-Star rating is because I really wish that it included the remixes of "Bag Lady" and "AEIOU and Sometimes Y." Enjoy and relive the memories...

...and I did. Well, cassette, anyway, both of them (and both broke after too many playings!), many, many, many times. This has been on my CD Watch List since I started buying CDs, and I had given up until I recently ran the list through Amazon again. Much joy to see this finally out! Got it today, almost reverently slid it into my car stereo, cranked the volume, and WHAM I was back in high school. I felt my bangs. Whew. Nope, I wasn't back in high school. I never went for fashion anyway, but I sure as heck went for this tape. I was happy to be alone in the car today (and I'm sure any passenger was too!). I sang along (okay, I could sing along to everything but The Dawn), almost surprised that I hadn't forgotten any of the lyrics after 20 years, and of course I had to do the long, drawn-out scream in Bag Lady. Oh, the memories associated with this "record"! And an absolute shame that Liben and Rosen didn't make more.

A Great Album,

I remember seeing "Bag Lady (I Wonder)" on MTV when I was a kid and loved the song. But, as time went on I had forgotten about it. (I only saw the video twice, maybe, and never bothered to learn the name of the album.) Years later, I was looking through some old papers and saw "EBN OZN" written on a scrap. I had to think about it, then remembered it was a band I liked. For some reason, it stayed on mind and when I was finally able to access the web I started looking for them. At that time, all I could find was one small article about them that mentioned the unfortunate passing of EBN. It seems like it is just recently that more information about this lost treasure has surfaced, and thank goodness! I found the videos for "Bag Lady" and "AEIOU" then searched for the album. (Sorry kids, I am 40 and still say "album.) This is the first time I have heard the album all the way through, and I have to say it is truly a lost gem. For any child of the '80s it is a must have. I wish I could thank the person responsible for re-releasing this great, great album in person.

I know how every fan of this recording feels when they hear this again.
I can't believe it finally made it to CD. I can't believe I am listening to this long lost gem right now! You know, everyone has their favorite cuts, and I thought I'd tell you about mine, but as I listen to the entire CD I realize every cut holds something endearing to me. Memories. Flashbacks. Whatever. The sounds just bring me back to the day when I first got it on vinyl, which I still have in pristine condition because I transferred it to casette for the car and to preserve it. As the CD goes from track to track I keep thinking to myself "Oh yeah this one is great, too". We've been waiting a loooooooooooooong time for this one. How come you guys didn't tell me it was re-issued? I got this and another Wounded Bird re-issue; Kissing The Pink's "Naked"/"Kissing The Pink" double cd. What other re-issue gems are lurking out there from the 80's that I should know about?

Blast from the past,

Oh my God!!! What a blast from my past. I can remember cruising around with my buddy in his Truimph TR-7 with the top down blasting this cassette over and over. My tape was destroyed a long time ago, so, I haven't even been able to listen to any of the tracks in years. Upon listening to my new purchase, I fell right into each track as if I have been listening all this time. VERY GOOD purchase. Highly recommended.

A long lost classic, finally on CD,

It's great to be able to listen to Ebn-Ozn in glorious remastered sound after suffering though rips from a cassette for so many years. "Bag Lady (I Wonder)" should've been a huge hit, but wasn't.

I bought "Feeling Cavalier" by EBN-OZN because I had a vague memory from back in the 80s of the song "AEIOU Sometimes Y".So I did a search and found it, ordered it at a fair price I thought.I really enjoyed "AEIOU Somtimes Y" and there is another gem on it called "Bag Lady(I Wonder)".These two songs are a real piece of work, the other songs are just filler. Overall I am not dissapointed with my purchase
