How does this work?
Clicking the “Test drive now” button launches a copy of this app on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), a web service that provides on-demand compute capacity in the cloud for developers. When you interact with the simulated phone using your mouse and keyboard, we send those inputs over the Internet to the app running on Amazon EC2 — just like your mobile device would send a finger tap to the app. Our servers then send the video and audio output from the app back to your computer. All this happens in real time, allowing you to explore the features of the app as if it were running on your mobile device.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slightly tricky Right Side scroller December 12, 2012
Verified Purchase
The game is basically trying to keep your little character flying by flicking your finger. He needs to eat fruits and avoid the pointed objects that look like large fruits as well as hornets and other critters. (There are no directions that state this, but I found out by dying.)

Actually the only directions are found in a splash page of three panels showing you to eat fruits. You score points by eating fruits and collecting coins. You can only move forward (to the right), so if you miss something, there is no way to go back and get it. As you eat, you get to move faster. There are also bouncing platforms to help you advance.

It is a cute game overall that has no in app purchases! However, there is a Bonus Shop that sells power ups using coins you earn in the game. There is a button to get "free coins" but it does not do anything. I believe it is meant to go to a web site, but the dev blocked it in this version. It is a bit disconcerting to even see that, though, since it makes me wonder if a future update will activate it. As it stands now, it does nothing. Also, there is a button to "Submit" your score at the end, however, it also did not do anything when I pressed it, so I'm not sure if this will work in a future update or if I simply did not earn a high enough score to activate it.

I like the achievements section that offers trophies you can earn through various accomplishments. They do not appear to be linked to any internet sites.

As long as this truly remains a no in-app purchase game, it is a fun little diversion that kids would enjoy. It will end quickly for many, though, since even the first level has many dangers. If your child is easily frustrated, this might be one to avoid, even though it is free today.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute game, like jetpack joyride December 12, 2012

Fruit Devil is a similar game to Jetpack Joyride - it's about seeing how far you can go. You eat food to stay alive and you collect powerups to get enhancements to your Fruit Devil. While the Fruit Devil creature is cute, I liked Jetpack Joyride better. I found it really tough to stay alive in Fruit Devil - I often died from running out of food whereas I thought just avoiding all the obstacles was tough / engaging enough. I also wished I could see more of the screen. I'm glad I tried it though!

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of this app December 12, 2012
Verified Purchase
Not sure if it's associated with a virus as others have wondered but my HTC phone with ICS software os started acting up after installing this app. My phone became unusable even after resetting it. I had to resort to removing my micro SD card to get my phone to work again. It's possible this app may not be compatible with Ice Cream Sandwich google os. There can be compatibility issues between apps and various versions of Google's Android OS (ICS, Jelly Bean, etc.). I learned the hard way when I "upgraded" to ICS and found that lots of apps no longer worked or caused my phone to overheat, burn through battery life, and constantly reboot.

Game play:
As you start the game you will see a bonus shop. There you can buy items with coins and there are two buttons one with a question mark and one that says click for free coins that do not work. It appears that the developer has deactivated them but not removed them. Later on there is a submit score button that has also been disabled.

You run or fly and eat fruit. You fly by tapping or holding the screen. Eat as much fruit as you can but avoid anything sharp or pointed. If you eat an item in a bubble then you get to have a brief power-up or even get a magnet that helps you attract the fruit to you so you can get it faster.

Main Screen:
The game starts off with a help screen. It states:
* Cat fruits to Survive (That is what it says so don't blame me)
* Tap to jump hold to fly higher
* Dodge enemies and take items
* Help
* Play
* Achievements keeps track of your awards
* Sound
* Music

What I like:
The game is somewhat cute and the music is OK.

What I don't like:
The little devil dies too easily and for no real apparent reason. It just looks like if he doesn't constantly eat he dies. After playing a few games I got a pop up message, rate it now! If you like this game please rate it.

The instructions are poor at best and need to be expanded.

The devil dies too easily and it takes the fun out of the game. Because of that I really didn't enjoy playing it. I thought this would be a good game for children but with the character dying so easily they will get frustrated.

There are three buttons in the game that are disabled which bothers me. Was that done only to get good reviews and then turn them on with an update?

3.0 out of 5 stars ok game - somewhat confusing December 12, 2012

downloaded and functioned fine on my kindle.
this game is ok - parts of it seemed impossible to do you get fruits when they are surrounded by spikes and even better when platforms have spikes at their entrances ... the difficulty starts off way too high which seriously lowers the fun level - who wants to die at the beginning of every level!!!! I suppose with repeated play you would memorize the placement of things, although I think it was different with every restart. (I had lots of those!!!) I'll let my kids give this a try but I think they will bore of dying quickly. I also found that the only way out of the achievements menu was with my kindles back button.
