Book Description

  • The Notebook meets The Wonder Years in a true coming of age romance
1975: Shawn meets Dawn, his one true love, when she moves into the vacant house next door. Many people spend their life searching in vain for happiness, but he was lucky; finding it at the tender age of fifteen.
1979: Shawn and Dawn are forbidden to see each other. Feeling he is harming her by being in her life, Shawn walks away from the love of his life, apparently forever.
2006: after decades of sadness and mourning the girl that got away, Shawn has a chance meeting with Dawn that might change his life forever... again. Can the sweet bond of first love not only survive, but flourish?
Feels Like the First Time helps you remember what it was like to come of age and fall in love in small town America in the 1970's. No matter how much the world changes, some things, like timeless music, high school dances, making out in the backseat of a Chevy Vega, and of
course true love, will always remain the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful love story - even better because it's true! September 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm not usually much of a romance reader, but I absolutely loved this one. The story is touching, engaging, and well written. The characters draw you in - you really care about and root for them, and I couldn't wait to see how things turned out. The best part, though, is the fact that it's true. It gives you hope for love and life. If their fairy tale came true who knows what can happen.... I highly recommend this book if you enjoy romances, reliving a teen-hood set in the 70's, or just want a wonderful, uplifting story. I look forward to seeing where this author goes in the future!

An intense and moving true love story that will keep you up until you finish it. I laughed and cried right along with Shawn and Dawn. If you have ever been in love, lived in a small town, or tried desperately to do the right thing and failed, you will love this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely heartwarming & beautiful story. September 9, 2012
By JCole
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I could not put this book down. I spent my entire Sunday morning reading it. Shawn's pure honesty and passion for his and Dawn's story comes through beautifully with his incredible writing. I experienced so many emotions while reading it. I laughed and cried with and for Dawn and Shawn. I grew up in Mossyrock and live there today, so all things, people and places were near and dear to me. Including my brother, the roadie/chef. :-) A must read for all who love a well written, honest and heartwarming love story. Thanks to Dawn and Shawn, for sharing it through Shawn's words and both of your hearts.

5.0 out of 5 stars What An AMAZING Journey.... October 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
What a beautiful story and what makes it so amazing?? It is a TRUE one, and no offense Shawn, a wonderful love story written from a boy/man's perspective!! WOW!! What more can I say that hasn't already been said??

Shawn & Dawn's journey...thank you so much for sharing, it was so beautiful. I read books all the time about second chances and redemption, I have to say THIS read is my favorite for "second chances".

I too am a music lover (from the same era) that seems to put a song to the occasion and I love that music plays such an important role in this book.

This book deserves every star and more. Am going to recommend and share this title with pleasure.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was okay, but don't see it as a 5 star November 2, 2012
By sunrise
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
True stories are great and this is a great love story where high school sweethearts find each other after many years of separation. But, looking at the other reviews of "couldn't put it down" and "needed tissues", I couldn't relate. It's admirable that Shawn wanted to publish the book at the advice of his sister. It was just okay for me. Made me feel more concerned for Shawn about his lifetime obsessiveness for Dawn than anything else -- a little creepy. But, glad he is now happy in the end. One note: the song references got to be annoying, and I love 70s music.
