Book Description

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Evelyn Adams...

Tired of living under the shadow of her mother's bad choices, Autumn Maddox left home the first chance she got. But when her carefully constructed life crumbles around her, Autumn's forced to return to the small southern town that never let her forget she came from the wrong side of the tracks.

Jude Southerland, the town doctor, is used to taking care of people and with a pedigree that has the Ladies Auxiliary reaching for their fans, he’s easily the town’s most eligible bachelor – a status he has no intention of changing. That is until he almost runs down the Maddox girl he never noticed in school and suddenly finds her lush curves, dark curls and blue eyes consuming his thoughts, day and night.

Autumn would like nothing more than to live happily ever after with Jude. But with every local matron in the valley trying to marry him off to their own daughters, she knows they won’t let her forget that she's not good enough and never will be. With the chance to finally find happiness, can she overcome her family history and find the confidence she needs to believe in herself or will she let love pass her by?

This book was a delight to read. The chemistry between Autumn and Jude is palpable and keeps you turning the pages to find out what's going to happen next. This author has a talent for describing things in a way that allows you to really see and feel the setting and the emotions. I've read a ton of romance novels and this one stands out. I can't wait to read the next one in the series and see what's happening with Bailey! Give this book a try, you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Southern Charm November 29, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I stumbled upon this series by clicking this as a free book. I can tell you that I will be purchasing the other books as well. This book gripped me and didn't let go. Jude is a doctor who comes from a stable, loving family. Autumn has come home for her grandmother's funeral. Her family is a mixed bag. Her mother was a common topic of the town biddies. Her brothers and sisters, mostly from different dads, are good for nothings. She has one sister and a niece who you will fall in love with. Autumn doesn't think that she is good enough for Jude. He tries with all of his might to make her see that she is indeed good enough. There are a lot of emotions in this book. There is an air of that southern charm in the town (with the exception of the women who down their noses at people). Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.

This was pretty hearts and flowers - Autumn Maddox left home as soon as she could, determined to distance herself from her train wreck family. But when her Gran dies, she's forced to go back and pay her respects. She's happy to see one of her sisters and her niece, but the rest of her family is still a train wreck. She must thank the good Dr. Jude Southerland for taking such good care of Gran. But Jude is "the good people with pedigree" and Autumn is anything but. I gotta admit, Jude's character was pretty sweet. He insisted on getting to know Autumn and not make her another conquest. But... the story lacked any real depth and the the sub-characters weren't all that interesting. It was free at the time of download.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steamy! August 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
What happens when a small southern town has a girl from seemingly the wrong side of the tracks and the town doctor going head to head with each other. Why sparks of course. Autumn Maddox didn't want to come back to the town that treated her like trash but for her grandmother she did or her funeral that is. Jude Southerland doesn't want a relationship, but the town has a different theory on as to why not. Sparks fly when the one woman he didn't notice in school is the one women he sees his future with but will she give him the time?

Whew! Wow I loved this book. This is a new author for me but I will definitly be reading more. So in all honesty I sort of read book 2 first (not meaning too) but they were both awesome. Jude (Swoon) and Autumn's chemistry was explosive and it threatened to melt my Kindle. I felt bad for Autumn and the way that Jude took care of her was so sweet. I love the family dynamics in these two books and the fact that Autumn got to know her sister and niece was fantastic. The writing flowed well, the story and characters were well developed and I look forward to reading more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sultry Southern Romance May 6, 2014
By Pandora
Format:Kindle Edition
There's something about a sultry, southern romance that makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Autumn and Jude light up the pages every time they're together. Ms. Adams has a breezy writing style that reminded me of Jennifer Crusie and kept me flipping the pages way past my bedtime. Check it out! You won't be disappointed.

Home is where the heart is or for Autumn is where she never wanted to be but where she found love. Not an easy man to impress, Jude is melting inside and out for the girl with a past.

Great read from the first chapter to the last.

5.0 out of 5 stars A yummy southern romance May 4, 2014
By Marie

There's something about a good southern romance that makes me want to pack my bags and take a road trip and this book totally makes me want to do that.

Autumn's struggle to fit into a town she spent most of her life trying to get away from captivating and I loved seeing her and Jude's relationship break them both out of their comfort zones. Can't wait to read more in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! May 7, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This was given as a gift in exchange for an honest review! This is a new author for me. I have had her in my TBR for some time but have never gotten around to it yet. Will be getting around to soon. I loved her read and found it to move along fast! Autumn Maddox leaves home to make a life for herself, and get away from the past that the town called shameful. Her mother was a no good and went from man to man, her siblings had different fathers as well. When her mother passed away her Gran raised them after that who was respected by the community and the ladies club as well. At the time Gran got sick Autumn world began to fall apart with an investigation into to work and she lost her job..She didnt want to come home jobless and worry her Gran so she waited until the funeral. She reconnect with her sister Summer and her daughter Abby, which she adored. Summer is mixed up with a no good man and Autumn is gonna get her away from him no matter what. Now this leaves Autumn's love life so enter (Dr. McHottie) Dr. Jude Southerland which came from the other side of the tracks to him it makes no difference as she has made a life for herself for but she feels differently. We are talking a small town life, one brother is a lawyer, another is a cop, and her sister's boyfriend is messed up in something bad! I am so looking forward to book 2 which is Bailey's (his sister). Happy Reading. Kudos Evelyn!
