Useful piece of rubber,

This review is from: Fein 921072K13 Step Adaptor (Tools & Home Improvement)
I use this stepped rubber tube often between a Ridgid 6" R/O sander and the hose from my venerable Fein Turbo Two shop vac. Once inserted firmly in the vacuum adaptor provided by Ridgid the resulting tight seal makes for a very efficient dustless vacuum setup.Unfortunately at times it seems a bit too efficient with the sander motion being constrained by the powerful suction of the Fein vac. I modified the step adaptor by drilling a half-inch hole in the exposed part that is between the sander and vac hose and the resulting "air leak" allows for a good balance of suction and sander mobility. The result is WAY better than sanding without a vacuum set-up. Would recommend.

The only workable adaptor for diverse tools,

This review is from: Fein 921072K13 Step Adaptor (Tools & Home Improvement)
I use several of these Fein step adaptors (drawing into either the 4" shop system or to one of my Porter-Cable vacuums). They provide a reliable friction fit into the dust tubes of every Bosch and Makita tool I own, and plenty of others as well. I have found that the Jet and other brands of step adaptor just aren't worth the effort: Poor fit means I have to tape them into place, which means that I've just dedicated a crummy little adaptor to one machine or portable tool. Nuts.Until there's a law that all light machines and portable tools must have the same size TAPERED dust portal, I'll happily go on settling for this tapered fitting and skip the rest of the plastic. Oh yeah. The Fein is also better made and more durable than its competitors -- vital for a piece of plastic that's always getting pulled out of one fit-up and jambed into another.

Adapts the Fein Vacs to Festool Tools,
By
This review is from: Fein 921072K13 Step Adaptor (Tools & Home Improvement)
Don't be oversold on the hyped superiority of Festool vacs for their tools. While they are excellent vacs (I own one in addition to a Fein Turbo II) with tons of features, strictly from a vacuuming standpoint they don't offer any better performance than the Fein - and that includes any supposed advantage of the Festool vac's variable speed. The one use for which I prefer the Festool vac is for sanding. But that's because I have a Festool vac with a HEPA filter, and I do not have the HEPA filter for my Fein. There is also one really good reason to prefer the FEIN vac over Festool, and that's the cost of bags! Unlike sanding dust, chips from a tool like the Festool Domino will fill a bag in a hurry. Do yourself a favor and attach the Domino to your Fein instead! This adapter can be trimmed to fit any Festool power tool and will store nicely in the Systainer. It is as flexible as the end of the Festool hose, so will adapt to either the round or oval dust outlets on Festool tools.
