Feit Electric 100A/MP-130 100-Watt A19 Household Bulb, Frosted, 24 Pack

I ordered a 24-pack each of the 100 Watt and 60 Watt bulbs. The box was well packed and received with not a single broken bulb! I tested a few of each of the bulbs from each 24-pack and they worked with no problems. The construction of these bulbs appears higher in quality than the GE and Sylvania bulbs I have been buying, especially the soldering on the screw end and side. Some name-brand bulbs I have purchased have big solder globs making it difficult to screw them in or remove them from the light socket.

Please be aware that these bulbs are rated for 130V and 120V operation will produce less light and will look slightly more yellow-orange in color. I am a professional photographer with color darkroom experience so very familiar with "color temperature." The 100 Watt bulb looked about the same brightness when placed next to a 75 Watt bulb, and the color was almost identical. My outlet voltage tends to run high at 120V to 122V, because I have a transformer on the utility pole right in front of my house. If you live farther from the closest transformer or in a rural area the voltage may be as low as 110V to 115V. If so, these 130V bulbs may not be the best choice - Light output drops off very quickly with lower voltage and will be much warmer in color (yellow-orange). But even at low line voltage they are a good choice for outside lights and hard-to-reach bulbs, since they will last 2 to 3 times longer than a standard 120V bulb. They will also look brighter and more pleasing than those nasty CFL bulbs!

Another "bright" idea is to try mixing your light sources by using a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL)in some fixtures and these 130V incandescent bulbs in others. This works especially well with light fixtures that have two or more sockets. CFL bulbs are colder in color toward blue-green. The yellow-orange color of these 130V bulbs will help to provide a more pleasing light when used together with CFL bulbs. You will also be saving on energy, just not as much as using CFL bulbs in ALL your sockets.

The bulbs arrived well packaged and while I did not go and check all 24 as working, they seemed ok to visual inspection (and certainly no broken glass or other disasters). The two bulbs I am currently using are on a dimmer switch in the kitchen and are working well. They replace 2 CLFs that burned out within three months - it turns out CLFs and dimmers do not mix. The Feit bulbs do not flicker, the light is even and steady at a range of power which is a real improvement over some other bulbs.

I'll try to remember to update this review after I've used half the box.

The Feit brand is a long-standing name brand. The bulbs are long lasting quality bulbs on par with GE and Sylvania, and are offered here at a discount, in bulk. Highly recommend!

Update: 1/2/12 These bulbs have begun popping dead like cheap popcorn (every other kernel pops lol. I now regret buying these and will use up what I bought (rather quickly it seems) and then try something else.

The comment regarding color temp is correct. I am a photographer too. With that said, my home voltage is a measured whopping 125v-127v. Consequently 120v rated bulbs behave like pop rocks here. Since I have the voltage to drive the 130v bulbs to near wide open, I can see no diff in brightness or color temp when compared to 120v 100w bulbs. And there is just enough voltage cushion to cut "blow outs" to a minimum.

My box arrived intact. Amazon is amazing with packing most of the time but with bulbs they need to rethink the packing. The bulbs come in a factory box that is very well thought out. Then Amazon places that box in a larger box with air padding on ONE side. There is absolutely no advantage to double boxing unless the inner box is isolated on all four sides with padding. In fact it would be better just to ship the bulbs in the manufacturer's box than to ship it banging around in the larger box.

The build quality of these bulbs is excellent.

To sum up, this is a very highly recommended bulb. Especially if you have high line voltage at your home. Last week I bought one 24 box of 100w and one 24 box of 60w to determine quality etc before I committed. I just ordered some more boxes.

Great product at a great price. It even lights up. Don't be concerned, you will be happy and never be afraid of the dark again!

Well packaged and arrived in excellent condition. They seem a tad dim for 100's, but they do the job and that is what counts.
