4.0 out of 5 stars Easy fix for Theatre lights
The other reviewers are correct in saying there are problems with the theatre lights staying on all the time, but there is an easy fix. All you have to do is open the product and CAREFULLY trim the black plastic housing covering the light sensor. After I did that, the theatre lights worked perfectly! I rate this product 4 out of 5 because I had to fix a problem that...

Firt of all, I got this bulk pack elsewhere for way less, so shop around.

Second, the theatre lights, which are the really cool looking ones that aren't too harsh to look at, never turn off in response to the overhead lights being turned on. The only way I can get those to turn off is to shine a flashlight right into the light sensor.

Third, the other design switches on a off perfectly, but the light is very cold and harsh to look at. Whatever a candle is, think the opposite and you'll get the idea of what these look like. However, if you like the ambience of a starship running on emergency power, you'll love these.

Still, the price is right, and they do allow me to turn off some much more power hungry lights at night without stumbling around the house.

Oh yeah, about the theatre lights again: these are just tall enough so that if I plug them directly into my wall outlet in the top plug, they render the bottom useless, and if I plug them into the bottom plug, they make it impossible to plug a three-prong plug into the top plug.

So, you get what you pay for. If you want bang per buck, this is your ticket. If you want warm and cozy, look elsewhere.

I suspect more of these products will be sold now that there is a fix for the lights. Will I get a discount on all future purchases? Hmm? LOL

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! What a Great Deal, April 3, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Feit Electric 8 LED Nightlights
I can not believe what a great deal this is. If anything the lites are more bright then I expected, but they may dim down after they are broken in. The on off switch works perfect on them. It only cost 27 cents a year to run them? I think I can afford that. I love to walk around the house at night but I do not like to turn the lights on. So I have these lights in every socket I can find to put a night light in. In fact my wife use to have to leave the kitchen light on when she went to work in the morning and now she can turn it off without having to double back. This is as good of a deal as your ever going to get. Now all they need to do is add a battery and a solar charger for the perfect light. But at 27 cents a year they are already as inexpensive as they are going to get. Esp as long lasting as they are it will be a long time before I will have to change them out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great lights for a great price!, April 25, 2009

These are great night lights, especially for the price. As a previous reviewer wrote, the theater lights stay on all the time. The reason for this is the light sensor is mounted too far back in the housing. Nevertheless, all lights give off a cool blue glow and provide just enough light. The best part is they cost pennies a year to operate!

4.0 out of 5 stars wrong math?, July 9, 2010
This review is from: Feit Electric 8 LED Nightlights
The product description says: "These LED Nightlights will save you $312 in energy cost per pack per year. (As compared to using standard 7 watt incandescent nightlights at 12 cents per kWh.)"

However, the maximum power consumption of eight 7 watt incandescent nightlights is 8 * 0.007Kw * 24 hours * 365 days * $0.12= $58.9/year.

So $58.9 is the maximum amount you can save even if the LED nightlights consume zero energy.

These work fine for me.

Overall they are a little on the dim side and very much "LED Blue". I do wish they'd made the plastic tinted a little yellow/orange to mellow the color out but the blue color looks fine at night... optimists will just imagine it's moonlight :)

My "theater" style lights do go on/off just fine although they can be a little slow to react sometimes taking 2-3 seconds to turn on/off. They also seem to react faster to a hard transition from light to dark (turn light on off) rather than a gradual transition (bring lights up/down on a dimmer).

3.0 out of 5 stars The ad copy "Save $312/year" is WRONG, January 31, 2010
By
Al (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews

These work fine. They are not as bright as a 4 watt standard nightlight, but for most applications they are just right.

However, the ad copy says: "These LED Nightlights will save you $312 in energy cost per pack per year. (As compared to using standard 7 watt incandescent nightlights at 12 cents per kWh.)"

I think they made a mistake (or lied). Let's say that these LED lights use no power at all, and that you replace 8 7-watt nightlights.

If those 8 7-watt lights are on 24/7, then in one day they would consume

8 * 7 watts * 24 hours = 1,344 watthours of electricity in one day.
1,344 watthours / 1,000 watthours/kWh = 1.3 kwh per day.
1.3 kWh * 365 = 490.5 kWh/year.
490.5 kWh/year * $.12 /kWh = $58.87 per year

That is the maximum you could save. If you are replacing four night lights that use 4 watts each, your annual savings will be about $17.

, then in one year they will cost 8 * 7 watts * 24 hours/day * 365 days/year / 1000 watts/kw * .12 $/kwh = $59.

I bought this product two years ago, and all of them have failed since. Initially, they work very well, they are bright and go on and off as necessary based on the ambient lighting. About a year into using them, each of them got very dim, so much that they provided nearly no light. This should not happen with LED lighting, especially after such a short period of time. Ultimately, each one became worthless and I ended up discarding them. I am pretty disappointed with these, and have not written any negative reviews on amazon before, so this is a first. Maybe they have fixed this issue since the batch I owned, but I know there are better products out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price!, June 29, 2010

You've probably seen these in stores for $3 each or a 2-back for $4.

This is a 6 pack of the 'normal' lights which also includes two extra of the louvered style. They are all light-sensing and - as mentioned in other reviews - the 'normal' ones are more sensitive than the louvered ones.

I've strategically placed them around my home so that at night, there is a nice moonlight-type glow all around. Keeps the family from stubbing toes or having to turn on lights to make their way to the fridge or the restroom.

If you want more of an incandescent yellow/white light, you'll probably have to spend more on an other brand, but if you don't mind the bluish hue of these, they're great.
