I like the fact that this bulb puts out a huge amount of light with a low power consumption. The all plastic housing was surprising because I have always seen them made of glass. I thought that was good, however one of the front len's cracked after several weeks of use. The plastic surround did not though. I am kind of on the fence with this item. There is also some white light escaping from the rear of the bulb that washes the fixture. I use them for halloween and replace all my exterior lights during October. Pretty good product overall. I have about 6 and only one cracked. I would buy it again.

I have purchased five of these floodlight bulbs. They rock!

Okay, so why would someone need five of these? Halloween and Christmas outdoor displays, of course!

The silver portion of the housing is plastic, the lens seems like it is glass. The inside is one of those spiral-type fluorescent bulbs. According to the packaging, it uses just 20 watts of energy, but gives off the equivalent light of a 100 watt bulb. And, yes, they do. They do not put out much heat, either.

I've compared these lights to incandescent flood lights in a 'blue' color purchased from a local hardware store. The incandescent floods looked more green than blue to me. Based on that comparison, these lights give off a true 'blue' color. In addition, the incandescent lights put off a lot more heat compared to these bulbs.

The blue on these bulbs is quite similar to the light given off by a black light. Whites stand out nicely with it. But it is not a true black light.

We've used these for our Halloween displays, and they really make our haunted scenes pop. We will be using them to light our Christmas displays as well. Highly recommended!
