We thought we would save some energy and stop heating up our kitchen with 2 of these in our stove vent hood. They are about 1/2 as bright on the lighted surface as the halogen 35 Watt. The other negative is that they do not work with the dimmer. Only on or off. They certainly use a small fraction of the power and there is virtually no heat, but the brightness is not enough for a cooking light. I paid over $20 for 2. Not worth it if brightness is a factor.

I bought the 6-pak of these from AMZN.
They are nowhere near as bright as the halogens they replaced but I'm ok with that in my application.
Absolutely cool to the touch when on.

Longevity will be the determining factor for value and it will take a while to get any data on that.
I do know that the halogens were dying at an alarming rate and they aren't cheap themselves.

I bought this item in an attempt to lower my expenses on this very beautiful light but also very expensive light (electricity consumption) - the light is so dim it isn't even worth turning on! I have cheap pen light flashflights that produce 1000 times more light than this bulb. I have numerous other LED lights that I use for general purpose lighting which are considerably more expensive to purchase. I thought that since this light had the same specs as my other $20 light bulbs that it would produce as much light but probably not last as long - boy was I wrong! I save 50% but actually wasted money - I will never buy this brand again! Save your money, go to Lowes and buy their brand!!!!

I am a big fan of LED lighting and have tested may different brands and configurations. It would be reasonable to expect that a bulb like this with 20 individual LEDs would be brighter than the less expensive ones that only have 3, but it is not the case. The color is inconsistent across the spread, so unlike the other bulbs in my tests, this one is yellow on the outside edges (around 2500'k) and cooler toward the center (around 4000'k). LED bulbs are ideal for lighting artwork, and the inconsistent color from edge to center is a problem for viewing artwork.

The lED bulbs are almost enough light to replace the 50 watt halogen.It should have a few more diodes to be a better replacement. But it is a great start

All the lights worked, but the color is off on each light. I purchased 4 of these, and one gives off a pinkish light, two shades of yellow, and one slightly blue. I'm using them, but can't wait for them to burn out so I can replace them with higher quality led's. If you only need one light, would be fine, but don't expect the lit color of these lights to match if you purchase more then 1.

My assessment of 4 stars instead of 5 is attributed towards the item description being incomplete. This is a spot with a medium-small range pattern. Good and bright, decent light temperature, consistent coverage within the spot pattern. This light isn't dimmable, but it doesn't claim to be. The product description needs to say "Medium spot pattern, non-dimmable", that way the customer knows what they're getting. With most LED retrofits, one pretty much has to buy a few different models and brands to see what they like best. Call it a "Green Tax" that lets you keep a souvenir. This is a good strong accent light and I would by more of these for that application

Being LED I expected it to be a little less dim than the original bulb, but overall it does a great job. A HUGE difference in heat production as the original bulb we couldn't even touch the lamp housing it got so hot, this one is barely warm to the touch on the bulb itself. This is another reason I am in the process of switching all my lights to LED. More efficient, works just about as well as other bulbs, less heat production, and lasts a lot longer!

Led lamps are the best! They use a fraction of the electricity of CFLs and contain no mercury. With some tweaking the manufacturers can produce broad spectrum light with no heat and very little current draw. If we [the USA] could get production up at a low price, we could shut down the import of dangerous and noisy CFLs, replacing them with clean more efficient LEDs. The light from this lamp is bright, clear, and directional and you can't get burnt on the bulb or break it and have glass fall in your food, hair, or carpet.

This lamp has the longevity (it seems) that it was cracked up to have. However, the actual light output is way below the anticipated. It is actually 1/4 the output of the 50 watt halogen lamps I had hoped to replace. I cannot. It simply does not light my house entranceway. I have 4 bulb system and it is just 1 of them as a test. The other 3 are heads and shoulders better. I cannot switch to this for output, but I can say that it has outlasted at least 1 full set of halogens and is still going.
