You'd think these would be designed for ceiling mounting, but apparently not. They overheat and die (at least that's what the 4 I put in my living room did... one by one.., the inside of each was discolored yellow and black at the spiral base). I encourage everyone stuck with these crummy bulbs to pressure the company for better quality, by insisting they replace them. The number is 800-543-FEIT, they'll ask for the number off the bulb, and the place of purchase. You're not saving energy if the bulbs don't last!

I bought 18 of these to replace the incondescent units which had worked perfectly in our home for over four years. About a week after replacing them, two units in the kitchen burned out. I called the toll-free number and they shpped free replacements about a month later. Then three more burned out. Same story, but before I could get them, two more had burned out. This has been going on for over a year now. In total about 12 of the original 18 bulbs have burned out. I think there is something wrong with the design of the electronic ballast in these bulbs which causes them to go DOA waaaaaay before their claimed life of 7 years.

AVOID FEIT BULBS AT ALL COSTS! THEY ARE JUNK AND THEY DO NOT LAST!!
