5.0 out of 5 stars CFL Bug Light
Bulb drastically reduces attracted bugs. With normal CFL bulb on all night, had hundreds of bugs around light. With these bulbs only have less than 5 on most days around bulb at any one time.

Since I use a day light controller (note to use a photo-electric controller with a CFL bulb, you must find one specifically built to work with CFL bulbs) for my exterior...

1.0 out of 5 stars Life is just to short!
I purchased 5 of these bug lites. Had two not working in one day! Then over a period of 4 days had two more go bad. The last one is on 24/7. Go figure. Quite obviously I am not a very happy camper. I would've had light longer if I would have burned the cash!

5.0 out of 5 stars CFL Bug Light, July 10, 2009

Bulb drastically reduces attracted bugs. With normal CFL bulb on all night, had hundreds of bugs around light. With these bulbs only have less than 5 on most days around bulb at any one time.

Since I use a day light controller (note to use a photo-electric controller with a CFL bulb, you must find one specifically built to work with CFL bulbs) for my exterior garage lights and they are on each night, I wanted to ensure when I changed to bug lights for the summer they were also CFL bulbs. After only being able to locate a CFL encased in a yellow "shell" in my local stores I was able to find these CFL bug lights on line.

I had 40 watt equivalent white CFL bulbs in the winter and glad I went with the 60 watt equivalent CFL Bug lights, as the yellow coating does decrease actual light output.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CF bug light yet., December 12, 2008
This review is from: Feit Electric ESL13T/BUG 13-Watt Compact Fluorescent Mini Twist Bug (60-Watt Incandescent Equivalent) (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is the best CF bug light I have found yet. Attracts very few bugs. Much better than the Silvania and a million times better than the GE.

I have had this lamp in service for one month so far, about 340 hours. It operates from dusk to dawn, every night. The light from this lamp is a deep yellow unlike a pale yellow that comes from other lamps. While some bugs still seem to go to the lamp, there are about 90 percent less bugs around this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great in Summer for Bugs - Wont Relight in Coldest Winter, August 7, 2011
This review is from: Feit Electric ESL13T/BUG 13-Watt Compact Fluorescent Mini Twist Bug (60-Watt Incandescent Equivalent) (Tools & Home Improvement)
I tried other brands of CFL bug bulbs and none worked as well as this one in keeping the bugs away. The yellow Feit bulb keeps nearly all of the bugs away from my light fixture in the summer and uses only 13watts all night. However in the winter on the coldest nights, if I turn off the bulb..it will not come back on. I thought maybe it was dead...but it wasnst! If I unscrew the bulb and take it inside to warm it up to room temp..and then take it back outside in the cold and try it again..bingo it works. So it doesnt work for me in the coldest nights of winter if I need to turn it off and back on immediately. But I dont have bugs in winter anyway. So what I do is use this yellow bulb in the summer when there are bugs and it keeps them all away...and then I switch in a white CFL bulb in the coldest dead of winter. A white bulb gives me slightly more light too. Anyay I dont mind swapping the bulb in/out once a year if my solution keeps the bugs away when I need to. So far Ive been using the same yellow Feit CFL bug bulb for 2 years and it hasnt burned out yet either.

I've had this bug light about 5 months now (2/3/2011) and it has *dramatically* reduced the existence of bugs around our front porch area. The wife doesn't like it because it doesn't illuminate the front porch as gloriously as white-light, but she's willing to live with that in exchange for no bugs!

There are many, many days where you don't even see a single bug! The actual hue of the lighting is not bad, it is definitely bright enough to see people at the front door, but doesn't make you want to shield your eyes in disgust if you're driving by either. It has the appearance of a dimmer, low wattage white bulb, versus a true bright yellow light.

I'll update this post if it ever goes out... (As of 7/9/2011 it is at 3600 hours of run-time)

These bulbs fit perfectly in my outdoor fixtures, and they attract no bugs. They are a deep yellow color. They worked perfectly out of the box, and I haven't had any failures (yet). One of these fixtures uses a photocell to turn on the light at dusk and off at dawn. So far, it works OK with these CFL's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific product and customer service, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Feit Electric ESL13T/BUG 13-Watt Compact Fluorescent Mini Twist Bug (60-Watt Incandescent Equivalent) (Tools & Home Improvement)
These Feit bug lights significantly decreased the hordes of night fliers that surrounded my back porch doors. When one light only lasted two weeks, an email resulted in the delivery of a replacement bulb within days! No forms, no authorization numbers, no return required. Service like this is incredible!

I highly recommend this product and this vendor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Feit Bug Light doesn't last, February 20, 2012
This review is from: Feit Electric ESL13T/BUG 13-Watt Compact Fluorescent Mini Twist Bug (60-Watt Incandescent Equivalent) (Tools & Home Improvement)
Feit Bug light lasted about a year. Package stated "Lasts up to 7 years guaranteed". Called Feit at 866-326-Bulb and they refused to replace because it was older than two years old. Bad Customer Service. They don't stand behind their products. Never a Feit again.

Bought these bug lights for the front porch because I was tired of cleaning cobwebs from around the lights (from all the bugs that would gather for an after dark party when I left my patio lights on.) These bulbs are working great, illuminate the patio well and no new cobwebs!
