4.0 out of 5 stars Good while they lasted... but they didn't last
When I first received these light bulbs, one of them was broken. But Amazon was good enough to credit my balance a few dollars to make up for it. I installed 2 of these bulbs outside for my porch and side lights to keep on all night, every night. I figured that since I was keeping the bulbs on all night, that I may as well save money on KWH usage; these bulbs giving off...

1.0 out of 5 stars WORST CFL BULBS I'VE EVER USED
I can't say much positive about the cfl bulbs from FEIT. The light quality was what i expected from a cfl... not quite as good as a regular incandescent bulb, but decent. However, these bulbs DO NOT LAST, nor are they going to save you money. These cfl bulbs are supposed to "last 13 times longer than a standard 750 hour bulb." (That's printed right on the box the bulbs...

1.0 out of 5 stars WORST CFL BULBS I'VE EVER USED, November 4, 2010
This review is from: Feit 23-Watt Compact Fluorescent Spiral Light Bulb (100-Watt Incandescent Equivalent), 4-Pack
I can't say much positive about the cfl bulbs from FEIT. The light quality was what i expected from a cfl... not quite as good as a regular incandescent bulb, but decent. However, these bulbs DO NOT LAST, nor are they going to save you money. These cfl bulbs are supposed to "last 13 times longer than a standard 750 hour bulb." (That's printed right on the box the bulbs came in.) That means these bulbs are supposed to last over 9000 hours and save you hundreds of dollars. Frankly, I'd call it blatant misrepresentation and false advertising. They will cost you MORE, regardless of any energy savings. I bought 12 bulbs and put them all through my house. As of this day, less than 2 years later, not ONE of the bulbs is still working. NOT ONE! Some of the bulbs (conservatively, i'd say 4 or 5, but i can't remember exactly. All i know is, it was too many) quit working within about 3-5 months. Most of them blew out within a year. Two actually lasted about 1 1/2 years. I have regular incandescent bulbs in other lights that have been working for as long as i've owned this house, which is 4 1/2 years. FEIT bulbs do NOT live up to the claims. In fact, FEIT only warrants the bulbs for two years based on 3 hours a day of usage. They advertise over 9000 hours of bulb life, yet they only guarantee the bulb for about 2000 hours??? Hmmm. I tried calling their customer service number 3 separate times, and each time it went directly to "hold" mode (in other words, if you call a company and they put you on hold, you get music and sometimes a voice telling you to continue waiting, along with pitches for the company products.) I never once got a human, or even an automated answering system. Just the music and message saying someone would be with me soon. I continued waiting for 20 minutes all 3 times before i gave up and hung up the phone. My final verdict? Awful bulbs, awful customer "service," awful warranty, and WAY-overblown claims on the packaging. Don't buy FEIT bulbs. I know i never will again.

When I first received these light bulbs, one of them was broken. But Amazon was good enough to credit my balance a few dollars to make up for it. I installed 2 of these bulbs outside for my porch and side lights to keep on all night, every night. I figured that since I was keeping the bulbs on all night, that I may as well save money on KWH usage; these bulbs giving off 100 watts and using actually using 23 watts each.

I will say that these bulbs worked very well. They illuminated my entire front and side of the house, which is what I needed. The light looked very nice and natural, like daylight. I was very pleased... until one of them burned out already. I ordered these toward the end of May. It is only the middle of July right now. Now I may not be a math expert, but somehow I think that the claim "lasts 13 times longer" or "up to 10 years" is pretty faulty. I didn't even get 2 months out of mine; which is about the same time I got out of regular light bulbs. For their claim to be remotely true, these would have had to last at least 1 year. So I won't be buying this brand again. We'll see how GE works.

****Update 5/1/11*****

I installed another bulb from this package in another fixture (side porch) and it still has not gone out. The very strange thing about this whole situation is that I installed a different brand CFL bulb on my front porch and the light has never burned out yet. So I am wondering if the one that did go out was a fluke.

5.0 out of 5 stars Feit DAYLIGHT, February 20, 2010
This review is from: Feit 23-Watt Compact Fluorescent Spiral Light Bulb (100-Watt Incandescent Equivalent), 4-Pack
Unlike the more well known brands, Feit DAYLIGHT is the only one I have found that really imitates DAYLIGHT. It emits a pure white light reminiscent of a sunny day at the beach. Other brands, despite claiming to be "natural light" or "daylight", exhibit that sickly yellow tint found in CFL bulbs. Please be sure that you are puchasing Feit DAYLIGHT Model #ESL23TM/D as other Feit CFL bulbs produce that same ugly yellow glow!!!!!!!!!!!

It is excellent for minor surgery, ie splinter removal, etc. reading fine print in books or newspapers but is ill advised for reading shiny reflective material such as magazines.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Quality, March 4, 2011
This review is from: Feit 23-Watt Compact Fluorescent Spiral Light Bulb (100-Watt Incandescent Equivalent), 4-Pack
I had purchased Feit CFLs because of their low price compared to other brands. But, in this case, the savings did NOT pay off. These bulbs simply do not last. I live in a newer home, good electric supply (i.e. no brown outs, or surges). I have yet to see a single bulb (and I have purchased dozens) last more than 2 years. Many burn out in 1 year. I will never purchase Feit products again. It is NOT environmentally sound to replace incandescent bulbs with CFLs containing mercury that last the same amount of time as the standard bulbs.

when I picked up my box on delivery day, it sounded like a tambourine

Two bulbs came smashed to pieces and one bulb (of the remaining two), one had a crack in it, yay!

from the looks of it, it appears that these were packed very poorly

exceptionally poorly compared to some of the more expensive bulbs on here IMO

well you do get what you pay for, i guess
