Great, sweet, historic,

This review is from: Feito Em Casa: 25 Anos (Audio CD)
A record that doesn't get old and still features a great Brazilian musician at his prime, in a more free and generalistic genre, without the usual stereotypes of bossa nova, samba and Northeastern rhythms - yet still quintessentially Brazilian and with a lot of the country's soul and tradition. Just "Variações" ("Variations") and "Aonde Você Vai?" ("Where Are You Going?") are worth the record, but there isn't a single bad track here. It was also historic because it was the first recording by a prestigious Brazilian musician that was independently produced and released without a major record label behind it - hence its name, as "Feito em Casa" means "Made at Home" in Portuguese. This CD edition also features a bonus track recorded in 2002 to celebrate the record's 25th anniversary, "O Nome Não É Importante" ("The Name Is Not Important").I didn't like Amazon's bio - it makes it sound as if Antonio Adolfo were dead or retired. As of today (May 2010), he is neither, though certainly not very much under the spotlight - which is not his style anyway. But what matters is the music, and that is great. Try to get his other record "Encontro Musical" as well, if you can - great partnerships with some of the best Brazilian singers and composers. |
