5.0 out of 5 stars The gold standard for small hands. Buy It!
Ever since I got my first Felco pruner, I will not even consider buying any other brand. Not only do they work better than any other brand, they are simple to take apart and clean and replace worn parts. They are even relatively simple to sharpen, although it takes a slightly different touch than your pocket knife or chef's knife.

I ordered the Felco F-6 Pruner shipped by DuroKon, and when I opened the package found a Zenport pruner instead. From what I've been able to learn on the web, Zenport parts are "interchangeable" with and "comparable" to Felco pruners, but are not made by Felco.

Ever since I got my first Felco pruner, I will not even consider buying any other brand. Not only do they work better than any other brand, they are simple to take apart and clean and replace worn parts. They are even relatively simple to sharpen, although it takes a slightly different touch than your pocket knife or chef's knife.

The bottom line is that they work really, really well for years, even without sharpening. Their scissors action is much better than the anvil style. This F-2 model is the most general purpose design and I use it on virtually everything.

I will suggest that if, like me, you have relatively small hands, the smaller F-6 model is slightly more comfortable and easier to use for most work. I have both and use the F-6 for heavy duty end of the year pruning and the F-2 throughout the summer for average pruning jobs. If you only want one of these little gems, this smaller one will do everything the larger one does, but with a bit more effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Compares!, June 8, 2007

When I cleaned out my garage, I found at least 5 or 6 rusty pruners. I cleaned them up and started using them again. I realized I had let them get lost and rusty because they were all horrible. These are different. They're unbelievably sharp and effortless to use. I adore them and I'm very pleased to see that the parts can be replaced as needed. I'm considering replacing my lopper with Felcos. I held off buying these because of the cost, but they're well worth it and I take better care of them than my other pruners. Don't be fooled by the lookalike brands. I have a pair of those that cost half the price and they're barely better than a $6 pair from the depot. I have average female hands and Felco #6 is comfortable to use and hold. I was thrilled that Amazon had these in stock at a good price.

This review is from: Felco F-6 Classic Pruner For Smaller Hands (Lawn & Patio)
I bought a set of these pruners for my girlfriend. She had a set of no-name bypass cutters from one of those big box hardware stores. The joint was loose on those, the blade rusty and she kept mashing the stems of the roses I bought her, so what was I to do? I own a set of the F-2's and wasn't going to give those up. So I got her a set of F-6's. Besides the handles being closer together, the bottom cutter on these cutters is replaceable and is narrower than the F-2's. So you can slip these cutters into a smaller spot. Not that it happens all that often.

On hand sizes, I wear a XXL work glove, (I have long fingers) she wears a Ladies L, which is a Men's M work glove. So if you have really tiny hands in comparison these cutters may still be too big for you. I can use either the F-2 or the F-6 but I prefer my F-2's, with the reverse being true for her.

She's delighted with these cutters. You will be too, you'll never go back to those other cutters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice pruners, September 12, 2005
The Felco F-6 Small Hand Pruners are great - very sharp, efficient and smooth and not too heavy. However, watch out - they are so sharp, I cut my finger!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best I have ever owned!, January 13, 2009
I have owned and used dozens of pruners, some cheap, some expensive, but none better than my Felco pruners! Actually, by spending a bit more I have saved quite a lot of money. My first pairs were my grandmothers. I have no idea how old they were but it must have been over twenty five years. They were as good as new. I live in a house in the country and we keep almost seven acres park-like with flower gardens, fruit trees, grapes and the like. It is a very large task keeping this place up between the two of us. I did purchase the F-6 as my hands are rather small; strong, but alas small and I found these to fit them better. My old set from my grandmother are larger and after several hours do tire my hands.

These are well made and perfectly balanced and their cutting power is tremendous. I have owned several of the cheap pruners and they last maybe one season. I have no doubt that I will be using this new pair for quite a number of years to come. As has been pointed out in other review, there are a lot of look-a-likes available and are quite inexpensive. Don't be taken by this. Look for the brand and go ahead and spend the extra dollars. They are worth every penny and will save money in the long run.

I am, I promise you, extremely picky about my gardening tools and yard care tools. I put them to work! I have been more than satisfied with these pruners and have no doubt that I will purchase another if the need should ever arise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the best!!, June 12, 2007

This small pruner is the smoothest and most ergonomic pruner I have used. It will reach into small spaces and also cut half-inch branches precisely. I have owned many (emphasis on Many) hand pruners that have been disappointing but I do not see this happening with the Felco F-6.

I've used a variety of purners in my day, but these are superior to them all. I have small hands and they are a perfect fit. The action is smooth and clean. The bright red handles make them easy to spot if I set them down while working. Great value for your money.

My wife has small hands, these are the only pruners that fit and cut easy for small jobs. I found out that if you oil with WD40, the performance on a daily use is much improved.

The Felco pruners are a great investment. This small hand pruner works just fine in my big hands for delicate pruning and getting in tight places to deadhead. This is my second, I have a regular size pruner (8" blade) that is 20 years old and the only repair I've ever done was to order a replacement spring. A fine company and this is a good price.
