5.0 out of 5 stars I'll never get over the American Girls.
It seems like most people who review these books are either in the age range which the books are written for or are parents who read them with children. I'm sixteen and I read these when I was nine, but I picked them up again recently and they're just as good as I remembered. People say they're a good introduction to history, which is true in certain ways. But if you...

3.0 out of 5 stars These books rule!!!
I have two series out of the American Girls and I absolutely love them. I have Samantha and Josefina. My favorite is Josefina. The reason I gave this book 3 stars is because Meet Felicity isn't very good, and that's what I'm reviewing.
My sister likes Kirsten. All in all, AG is very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'll never get over the American Girls., August 5, 2000

This review is from: Felicity Hc Boxed Set (Hardcover)
It seems like most people who review these books are either in the age range which the books are written for or are parents who read them with children. I'm sixteen and I read these when I was nine, but I picked them up again recently and they're just as good as I remembered. People say they're a good introduction to history, which is true in certain ways. But if you want books that simply make you happy, get ahold of these, no matter how old you are.

Regarding Felicity specifically, she's a lot of fun, although the other characters in the series are more realistic. In the first book, Felicity is able to ride an abused horse after spending only a little more than a month with the horse. I don't think a frightened horse would trust a person that quickly, no matter how kind the person is. Even so, this is a wonderful story for nine-year-old girls since so many see horses as fantasy creatures. When you read this--especially if you're an experienced horse person--remember to look at it in the context of who it's written for.

If you look at all of these books as a young child would, it's easier to see them for what they are: stories with wonderful characters who we can relate to and be envious of at the same time. In a nutshell, the entire American Girls series is an excellent interpretation of how life is and how it should be.

My 8yr. old daughter and I read these books together and found them to be a classic to treasure for childhood. The discriptive language was easy to understand and appreciate, it's a good example for beginning creative writing. We truly enjoyed the adventures and the historical facts mixed in with a young girl that my daughter could relate with and look forward to with each chapter.!

5.0 out of 5 stars American Girl books are wonderful, February 9, 2007
This review is from: Felicity's Boxed Set (The American Girls Collection) (Paperback)
My daughter is in 4th grade. All the girls are into these books, they are beautifully illustrated and well written. They are like history books that put you into that time and space, excellent!! My daughter is loving them and we read the history part in the back together. Very educational. I have to confess, reading through one book I was close to crying, very well written, no wonder they are keeping all the girls attention. Also I have to say that Amazon has such a great price, that you can barely get a better deal used on e-bay. Buy with confidence.

This is the first time my 7yr old daughter and I have read any of the American Girl books and we love them. The Felicity series has been a great way for me to introduce history and how young girls lived in the early years of America. It has adventure, family life and lessons.I find it sweet and my daughter always wants to see what's going to happen next. With all the TV and gadgets surrounding our children today, I would definetly recommended this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the all around best material I've ever read!, June 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Felicity's Boxed Set (The American Girls Collection) (Paperback)
These books offer a good look into the world of a Colonist in Williamsberg, from the very first signs of conflict, to the beginnings of the Revolution, as seen through the eyes of an impatient, independant nine year old named Felicity. You will surly love these amazingly accurate stories of the adventures of Lissie and her friends as I did, and, if you are this kind of reader, may even become as familiar, and, dare I say, close to the charactres. These funny, exciting, accurate, and all around delightfull books will certainly become favorites on your book shelf!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story!, March 8, 2008
This review is from: Felicity's Boxed Set (The American Girls Collection) (Paperback)
I bought this pack of the American Girl Felicity Collection since I remember reading it as a young girl. When I read the first book, it was like remembering a great dream. It's easy to read, and the pages in the back include facts about what it was like to grow up in colonial America. I love this collection and had always wanted it. Now I have it and I plan to keep it for when I have children so they will love Felicity as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another reader, May 5, 2005
This review is from: Felicity's Boxed Set (The American Girls Collection) (Paperback)
I haven't read all of the series, my knowledge limits to Felicity, Kirsten, Molly, and especially Samantha, but I would have to give the American Girls series five stars.

I would recommend these books to anyone who wants to have something to read with a young person, a girl especially, or just if you are trying to find a gift for a reader in the family. I started reading when they first came out in 1986 with Kirsten's stories, and to this day I love to read them, even at 21. They have an innocence to them and yet are also quite intriguing to read. And at the same time you get a sense of what life was like during the time period that the girl lived.
