4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, November 7, 2003
This review is from: Felicity's Dancing Shoes (American Girls Short Stories) (Hardcover)
This is another in the American Girls Short Stories series about Felicity Merriman, a nine-year-old girl living in the America of 1774. In this book, when Felicity's lessons in being a gentlewoman turn to dancing, she quickly finds that her big, ugly shoes are stepping all over the other girls' feet. Thinking that her shoes are the problem, Felicity bribes her little sister into lending Felicity her beautiful little shoes. But, is the problem really with the shoes?

This is another very good Felicity book, one with a nice story and a nice lesson. The story does not grab the reader, focusing as it does on such a small problem, but it is enjoyable nonetheless. And, Dan Andreasen's illustrations are excellent, and help to make this book what it is. Overall, my daughter and I both enjoyed this book, and recommend it to you.

Well written book about my favorite American Girl, Felicity Merriman. This story shows Felicity's character as it was developed in the main series. She is so full of life and is a joy to read about. Her relationships with her sister and parents comes through in this short book. The characters are so vividly described.

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter, but definitely enjoyed it as much myself! She has read it three times and loved it.
