A long overdue homecoming,
By Silmarillion (Romania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Felimid's Homecoming (Bard V) (Mass Market Paperback)
Weary of the world that saw his lover Gudrun die and cheered, Felimid decides to return home. But the Eire is no longer the magic, safe harbour he left. His grandfather, the recognized leader of the powerful Bards, still nominally rules, but there are many others that would take his power for themselves.
Repeatedly attacked on his way home, Felimid knows that demons could kill him before news of his return could reach his family, but the strange earth-wizard he let live once has a link to him that won't allow him to rest until the young bard is safe... But when his unseen enemy sends a demon in Gudrun's resurrected body to bid Felimid out of the hedgehog wizard's protection, the battle will prove fierce, for Felimid wants nothing more than to join his dead lover, even if that means letting go all hope for a future. The enemy discovered and confronted will put Felimid in danger over again, and against him sit men he would once have called friends. One small chance of loving again, the comfort of his family and the peace of home is all that could keep him from death's door. A superb Irish fantasy. Recommended. |
